Tiles shop?? - opposite Dunelm Mill (where B & Q used to be)

Tile shop - corner of London Road - back of Waitrose

The tile shop behind the Blades ground uis good, but very expensive.

There is also a tile place in the old tramsheds near Meadowhall, but their stock is very variable, so you need to make sure you buy enough.

Topps Tiles on Shoreham Street - the end near town beside where the BBC is. If you buy from their 'in house' stock range (which isn't bad) you can overbuy (which you gotta do anyway) and they will take back the excess and give you yer money back. If you aren't putting them up yourself - grab one of the reccommended tilers business cards they have their. If you use one of them then you will get an additional 18% discount. I used a bloke called Andy who was v reliable. All in all a bit of a bargain for a big job.

B&Q have some very good plain tiles, but go to the Darnal branch they are more helpfull and the store seems bigger and better stocked.

i did the same venture 4 months ago, founs b&q to be cheapest after i'd bought them from tile depot.

learnt the lesson b&q are still cheapest on floor tiles at the moment.

I have yesterday bought some tiles from B& Q they have an offer on selected tiles at the moment.
They ain't cheap though when it comes to adhesives etc I got mine from Wilkinson's they are always competitive on things like that

Wickes are even cheaper than B&Q (compare the per sq m price) and definitely worth a look. The Rutland Rd/Penistone Rd Wickes is much better than the Moorfoot one for tiles though.

Not as big a range as Stokes, Topps or the big B&Qs, but good prices if you just want fairly standard ones (and there are some more fancy ones too).

You should really go for a professional adhesive and grout every time - the cheap crap from the sheds and places like Wilkos is just that, crap. It will fail and then you'll end up spending more money than you thought you'd saved. You can buy a large bucket of BAL White Star ready mixed adhesive for £15 or so and a bag of BAL grout for a few quid. Ardex stuff is good too.

Last time I went in Topps I was quite disturbed by the reaction of one of the staff - I asked if they'd got any 40mm tiles (as in 40mm square) and he spent 10 mins looking for tiles 40mm deep as opposed to the normal 6mm/8mm. That was a few months ago and haven't been back since.

Theres a place on the same road as the Meadowhall Interchange that seems quite cheap, can't for the life of me remember the name of it though!

The Yorkshire Tile Company on Hill Street/Bramall Lane is a good place for tiles: they have a massive choice and the prices are also good. They even sell bathroom suites and have loads on display. The showroom is fantastic!! Check out the website at ytc-tiles.com

Thought that I would update this old thread as there is a new tile store at Hillsborough. Its on Penistone Road Trading Estate near Lexus and is called tiles2u. They have the latest styles but with prices that are - like for like - 30% to 50% cheaper than the opposition.

Their 20kg flexible rapid setting floor tile adhesive is only £12.50.
Their 10 ltr Wall Tile Adhesive is only £7.25.

All price tags show the retail prices from other stores and their price busting offers.

Well worth a look.
