Just got a note from Post Office saying i wasn't in. I must have been in a real deep sleep at i heard no one knocking. But thing is i need the parcel today. Is there any way to pick it up earlier because now i have to wait for 48 hours?

I am quite annoyed because 8:45 is the earliest the post man has come in years!

Plese can some one help?

go the the depot tomorrow, they normally have it available after 24hrs even though it says 48.
Or go out and find the postman if he's still doing his round.

if it's a parcel the post man may not have brought it, it could well have come on the van. Could explain why it was early. Won't help you get it back tho!

I doubt they even bothered bringing it out.

Ours normally just shoves the card through the door, if you open the door whilst he is doing it he doesn't have the parcel :suspect:

lol thanks for your replies. I would love top to try and find the post man but the parcel may be too heavy for him/her to carry so i'd probably not have any luck. I have rang up though and the man said I should ring tomorrow as it might be there then.

Yeah you have to leave at least 24 hours before you can go pick it up, and then the opening hours of the depot are generally 7am - 11am.

Happened to me last week when I ordered a phone, and probably today after ordering a speed ball! My mum will be in bed, but the postie won't knock loud enough.

This has happened to me a few times and I actually once caught a postie doing it. I opened the door but he just shoved the note in my hand and scurried off! But that's royal mail for ya! :roll:

As suspected.. I was left ANOTHER note by the postie after he didn't knock long/loud enough for my mum to hear!

Our proper postie is very accomodating. Nice guy. We sometimes get somebody else, then we get everybody else's post and none of ours :mad:

We used to get an info pack for the weekend's engineering work sent out to arrive on a Saturday morning. The only reason it was sent 'registered' was to make sure it got here. Our postie was under strict instructions to ensure it didn't go back to the depot. They're usually a bit wary of getting people up out of bed, but he knew he had to knock loud enough to wake the dead :D

If that failed, he left it with a neighbour (against the rules, but it was under our instruction)

The only problems we had was when they had agency staff covering. Apparently they aren't allowed to carry the registered post, and it goes out on the van. One morning I heard a noise, followed by a van door slamming. I ran out and accosted the offending mail guy, who looked cross. He had flapped the draught-excluded letter box, rather than using the brass knocker :mad:

The most bizarre postman story I have is from when our normal postie was off on holiday so someone was covering for him. Our house is on a corner, so the entrance for the front and the entrance for the back are on different roads.

Anyway, he was walking up one road, incrementing numbers in his head presumably as he gave us the post for the house across the junction.

Later, he gave us post for our next door neighbour across the junction the other way.

Even later, he gave us post for the house two doors up diagonally across the junction?!?!?!

Surely he would have noticed that he visited the same house 3 times in an hour, each time with a completely different address?

Interestingly, he delivered our post three doors down.

I never had a problem with waking people up when I was a postie - I usually knocked loud enough to wake the dead :)

I hate waiting for a parcel, as the postie just seems to push the letter through the door without knocking which really annoys me as you have to wait another 2 days before you can get the parcel.

Granted I am rarely in , but when it is something important I have stayed in for it just to have to chase the van up the road after they have shoved the paper work through the door without even knocking.


It is so annoying.
