The 1950s were the age of the juvenile delinquents. The 2000s are the age of the geronto delinquents.
All it needs now is a remake of Rebel Without a Cause and a silver haired James Dean figure to play the lead. What about it FarEast?

What does ASBO stand for? Was that about the old bloke and his wife that turned their house into a train station and went to 'work' everyday?

I couldn't understand why the O.A.P.'s were objecting to getting ASBO's as they were being antisocial and despite what they seemed to think ASBO's are not just for young hoodlums. I was brought up to respect my elders but if you don't mind I don't think I'll respect the people featured in this programme.

In Germany they have built a special prison for the elderly, due to the rise in the crime rate within this group. It can be attributed to several factors in the UK I think - for example, the fact that the elderly these days tend to be fitter and more active than a generation ago; to the fact that more people within this group are living alone (and are not subject to the constraints of family life); and in some cases to financial desperation, due to the low value of the state pension. There are no doubt other reasons, as it covers a broad social spectrum.
