I was considering buying an apple keyboard to use with my pc as they look better than normal keyboards and just wondered if they are compatible with windows xp?

I seriously doubt it but I can't say I know for sure.

They do work, however various 'Windows Keyboard' functionality is not available, and various keys (Such as the Apple and Control Keys) probably wont work or do anything, but for general A-Z, 0-1 !"£$%^&*()_+}{~@:?><,./;'#[]=- characters, it should be fine.

Yeah, but not having the Windows key is a pain!

CTRL & Escape will do the job (youll need to find these on MAC keyboard tho)

You can remap the Apple 'Option' key to be a Windows key.. the much bigger problem is the lack of a Del key. There are ways to deal with it, but it is a HUGE pain in the arse.

Newer keyboards have one. Old ones didn't, and it really was a pain!

I've just plugged in an old iMac keyboard into my laptop - all works well until I just rebooted the computer. CTRL, ALT, DELETE needed - arrgh no DELETE!

Yes they will work, but they're not very nice to use, prohibitively expensive and missing a few keys. And the @ and " are the wrong way round (US-keyboard layout).

Fn Backspace works for delete.

I guess using OS X means you don't need a specific Delete key as the need for Ctrl-Alt-Del is much reduced :)

Command+Alt+Esc is the OSX equivalent. I use it a lot.

I've had a Windows machine for 3 years, and because I built it correctly and maintain it, it is yet to crash.

I get your joke though

The backspace is effectively the delete key, despite there being a delete key on Mac desktop keyboards. Especially as the backspace key appears to be called the Delete key on the new laptops, unless it is a delete key and not the backspace key which will mean one won't be able to delete if that is the case. So not all confusing.

Laptops and the wireless keyboard do not have both a backspace + a delete key, which is very annoying as obviously they weren't designed with typing in mind! :loopy:

I must be lucky then - my 4 year old PowerBook G4 needs a re-boot about every 2 months, and has never crashed, and I've used it for work for three and a half years - all day every day. It just gets a bit slow if you don't re-boot every couple of months. The rest of the time I just close the lid when I'm done, and open the lid when I need it. Sure the odd application crashes every now and again (seems to happen more recently - I think the HDD is on its last legs though) but the OS has never crashed.

I thought the lack of delete key was a bit weird when I bought it, but I don't even notice it now.
