He needs to pull off another of his miraculous recoveries, but from the hospital bed this time.

Hoping for the best with his biopsy on Tuesday.

I fear the worst. The problem with many brain tumours is that, by the time you actually start to show any symptoms, they're already inoperable.

Here's hoping that he may be an exception to the norm.

Golf legend Seve Ballesteros is in a stable condition after undergoing a 12-hour operation on a brain tumour.

The Madrid hospital where he underwent the procedure said he was conscious and stable and recovering in intensive care, and there were no complications.

A biopsy on the tumour was scheduled for Tuesday but doctors decided to operate to remove as much of the tumour as possible before treatment.

I heard on the news last night that his condition had deteriorated so they performed a second operation to relieve pressure on the brain by removing part of his skull.

It's a not-entirely-uncommon side effect from having to operate on someone's brain. There's no space inside the skull for a bruise to develop normally, so it causes pressure on the brain, which is dangerous; so they had to remove part of the skull to ease the pressure.

It shouldn't affect the overall condition as far as the tumour goes.

Looks like the operation today has gone well. I do really hope he makes a speedy full recovery. What a great ambassador for the sport this man is and what a great personality too.
