How old are the cats?
lisajaynec 09-10-2008, 20:24 not very old but not sure of age

I might be able to help if they were kittens because I know that my menagerie will accept them, but not so sure that they would adult cats
I've got room for a couple more if you need them fostering until a new home is found.
lisajaynec 09-10-2008, 21:36 pmed you Joey thank you
Moonbird 09-10-2008, 21:40 Fingers crossed, you have my number if I'm needed
Rainrescue 09-10-2008, 21:52 Any idea if they are neutered Lisajaync?
If you 2 can sort out getting them fostered - we will get them neutered if not - and then get pics of them to go onto the site and rehomed via rr if nobody else can take them in.
This happens so often doesn't it - poor things - with winter coming on too. Let me know.
Lisa is just on her way to see if she can catch them. Hopefully they won't have to spend another night outside. We'll keep you posted.

Oh I do hope that she can catch them before another night of rain starts, it's so great that you are able to step in like this, I would have done it if there was no other way...poor things, what on earth is wrong with people
One cat is safely in my spare room gulping food down as fast as it can! Beautiful grey tabby female, I think it is about a year old looking at its size and face, but I'm no expert. Might need help finding out if she's neutered or not .
Hopefully her brother or sister is safely inside somewhere until she can be picked up tomorrow.
Well done L & D on going out at this time to find her
lisajaynec 09-10-2008, 23:18 Thank you Joey, one female safely left with her, D will go looking tomorrow for her sister, who is friendly and a ball of fluff, hopefully she will have bagged herself a warm bed for the night.
Thank you also to Moonbird for the offer and to Rain Rescue for offering neutering-there are some very kind helpful people on this forum.
Joey hopefully D will see you at some point tomorrow with the other cat, I couldnt keep them as I go away tomorrow for the weekend.
Thank you again everyone for a great combined effort

Aww what great news, would probably have been to old for us here so glad that you came along :) we just need the other one now for a proper happy ending...they sound gorgeous I bet they will soon find a home.
Sister no 2 is now safe and well. Sister no 1 is a bit grumpy about the fact that she has to share her new home with her slightly prettier sister, so I've left them to sort it out amongst themselves. Never heard so much "grumble-talking" from a cat in my life!
The second cat is a long haired brown and black tabby. In the light of day, no 1 isn't as grey as I thought last night, but very light brown. Both have beautiful faces. I'll get pics up over the weekend.
Apparently they were called Molly and Milly. Which sounds like the grumpier name do you think? :hihi:

If they haven't been spayed you'll know soon enough, when the singing and dripping starts:hihi:
Good on you for helping them:thumbsup:
lisajaynec 10-10-2008, 13:11 Thanks to Joey again for taking in sister no 2. Woud love to see photos when i get back on Monday

Can you please check if they are chipped as the chip will need changing over. If the old owners have abandoned the cats then the chip company will need confirmation from you that the cats are abandoned before they will change the chip.
I'm starting to wonder if these are really sisters or not - No 1 (Milly) is just not happy about the other cat (Molly) joining her, is spending the majority of the day growling and spitting every time Molly moves. I'm having to feed them at opposite sides of the room at the moment. No actual cat fights yet as far as I know but definitely not acting like playful siblings.
Bit of a shame for Molly really as she is pretty much chilled, but is reluctant to move. It's still better than sleeping outside I suppose. However I think we need to get them rehomed asap - I only have the one room and I think they should be split up.
If anyone has a spare room and could help out by taking one of them I'd appreciate it but in the meantime I'll get some pics taken so they can be put up for adoption.
I'd normally say that one could come and stay with me, but I'm not going to be in Sheffield from next weekend on for at least a week, so I wouldn't want to make things even more complicated for the people who are going to look after my beasties. Sorry I can't be of more help.
No worries Medusa, I know it's difficult.
Here are some pics of the beauties:-

Ooo, gorgeous cats.
I bet these will be snapped up straight away.
If only.....

Nice work Joey- well done for coming forward so quickly! It is quite common for cats that have lived happily together to act asif they hate one another if they are in a stressful situation - I've seen it a lot with rescue cats and even with cats I've looked after here for friends - they may be totally chilled in their familiar environment but hate the sight of one another when confined somewhere new and unfamiliar. Give it time and they will get back to how they were before in a few days when they've got used to the new place, food, smells.
Rainrescue 12-10-2008, 09:15 I am not that great on cat behaviour - so thanks for that katkin.
Joey - thanks for all you are doing - i know its not easy - but you can borrow a crate from me if you like - and then keep alternating which one is in the crate and which one out - that way they can keep their distance from each other, but still be together
we will get them up on the rain rescue web site, and hope to get them rehomed.
In the mean time, they ought to go up to the vets at Broomhill if you can get them there, and lets see if they think they are spayed or not?
Fishpole 12-10-2008, 10:04 I'm currently looking for a cat suitable to live with a family with small children, who I'm assured are gentle and I will be homechecking soon. Well done for getting them to safety.
Rainrescue 12-10-2008, 12:55 That would be great Fishpole if it works out - fingers crossed
The cats are now featured on our web site,
http://www.rainrescue.co.uk/cats---rabbits.htm
so if anyone wants to print out the info and circulate - please feel free to do so.
Things have improved a little since yesterday. Milly is still not totally happy but she is letting me pick her up and cuddle her now. Even though she occasionally spits, she hasn't shown any signs of lashing out or biting which I'm pleased about. Molly is just totally chilled. She purrs as soon as you start to stroke her and would be perfect for a house with kids (Fishpole ). I have seriously considered if I could keep her, but my older cat just won't give any other cats a chance
Thanks for the back up everyone, I went into panic mode for a little while wondering what I'd let myself in for!!
Just an update on Milly and Molly - both have now got a lovely family to live with.
A big thanks to fellow forummers for helping them - both homes were found through the forum and Molly and Milly are both going to be spoilt rotten by their new mums and dads.
SpeedDemon 26-10-2008, 20:04 Great news Joey :banana::banana:
Moonbird 26-10-2008, 20:18 I am so pleased, how nice to have an happy ending :D
cuddlycats 26-10-2008, 21:12 Yay for Milly. My mum says Molly has come right out of her shell-she ended up getting a bit over excited whilst playing and climbed up the curtains to the pole at the top. She sulked all day that she got in trouble. Ill post photos when i get some.

Milly and Molly were neutered last monday. Joey took them before they were rehomed. The RSPCA kindly covered the cost.

Yes, as Cuddlycats said, they are neutered, chipped and partly vaccinated. They've also been de-flead and wormed their new owners will be pleased to know!! :hihi:
