Hi,
I was wondering if any of you lot have come into contact with the taxi rank on King Street. Apparently they're being removed from the site on King Street (off Haymarket) as they're said to pose a danger to the public by over crowding the area, which had a previous 3 vehicle waiting limit. I would be massively grateful for any of your views, opinions or experiences.

I often use the area, and usually have 2 four year old boys with me - never had a problem with taxis in the way or overcrowding, the drivers are usually courteous to pedestrians and drive slowly when moving up a slot! got into a couple of taxis from there too.....nice blokes, no problems.
cant see how they are a danger to public, Perhaps better signposting, road markings would be more appropriate cos some of the people who do walk down there have their heads in the clouds!!!

I use the King Street rank occasionally and it is busy there, but people just need to pay attenton rather than wandering around with no attention being paid to the taxis.

There are also trucks doing deliveries occasionally.

All in all, educate the pedestrians rather than limit the rank.

I've never had a problem there and it is very convenient to get a taxi there when you have a buggy,as the pavement is wide. The drivers have always been very helpful. What I would say is that the buses are the biggest problem in that area not the taxis.
