I have aol bb and have had problems playing video clips from day one. aol have tried but failed to help me sort it out - I know "I wouldn't touch aol if I were you!"
The picture and sound stutter when playing back, obviously the default player is aol media player. If I remember correctly I have a 2Ghz processor and 512kb of mem, the dvd player works well (Windvd).
Any advice welcomed.
ive never used aol media player so the only insight i can offer is that it is a codec problem.
is this video clips streamed from the web or on your machine?

aol offer on line studio sessions and movie trailers etc much the same as other suppliers?
It's these streaming video clips that I have problems with. I have more chance if I grab the slider and manually move it back giving the clip more time to buffer before sarting to play.
then it sounds like a buffering problem, whether thats due to the speed of your connection or the media player i dont know

My partner and were hoping to use bb and Skype (see www.Skype.com) for contacting her relatives in Austria but until I get this sorted I don't think there's much point in pursuing this avenue.
I think there's something on aol help for testing connection speed but not sure what to do about buffering. I assume there is some way to increase the memory allocation or temp space used? (on XP by the way)
You can test your connection speed here (http://specials.zdnet.co.uk/misc/band-test/).
I'd assume that AOL media player would be similar to Windows media player with buffering. Look in the options to see if there's anything mentioning performance.
In my experience, it's better to leave the clip stuttering until it reaches the end. Then just click play again and it will play normally.
I have a 512MB connection and always took it for granted that it wasn't fast enough for streaming movie clips.
Can anyone tell me if this is true or is something to do with AOHELL?
Sounds about right vidster, that's what I always did. I've just been upgraded to 1meg and still have the same problem,
I think it's a combination of media player and bad websites. I get some sites to stream anything upto 5-10 minute clips perfectly but others either won't play or play badly on 30 second clips. Seems to be the same sites that have the same problems so I'm inclined to go with bad coding on the sites more than anything.
And I'm most definitely not with AOL!
i cant believe vidster had a 512Mb connection and had problems! ;-p.
it will also depend on the sites servers and their bandwidth.

I think it's gone up to 1GB now and it's on any streaming clip. Luckily i don't really stream any clips :suspect:
Lol would to try something like that 2 :)
