View Full Version : OFFICIAL Owls vs Blades - Derby day banter thread
canadablade 08-10-2008, 11:16 Leave you thoughts & banter on here so we dont mess up the other threads like usually happens :D
I am hoping for a better result than the last time we visited the Sty, too bad the International break is between matches as United seem to be on a bit of a roll and wednesdays confidence is shattered.
Still its a Sheffield derby and anything can and will happen, no Nobsor this season so thats got to be a plus for the Blades
Another plus is that the ground wont be like Ponds Forge and also we have a fit BT this season
Piggies not too bad at home so probably a draw is on the cards.
UTB
We're gonna beat you na-na-na-na-na-na! Pigs are poo Owls are best!.. ( that kind of thing? )
Well, I've got my lucky pants at the ready, unwashed since Boxing Day 1979! Should be a good contest this time round. Morgan looks unlikely to start, whilst Simek & King Sodje back for the Mighty Blue n White.
C'mon the Owls!
Bladesman 08-10-2008, 12:31 Wednesday are in for a beating.
Beattie scoring 10 goals in 45 mins. :D
Stockers 08-10-2008, 12:38 Morgan looks unlikely to start, whilst Simek & King Sodje back for the Mighty Blue n White.
On the plus side Ugo will start ahead of Morgan, Simek has played 45 minutes in the last year so it'll be a bonus if he starts and Sodje didn't even play for the reserves last night so fingers crossed he won't be playing as he looks a threat.
Can't say i'm looking forward to it, i never make predictions on derby matches but i'm glad Beattie has hit form just in time, the international break isn't doing us any good though.
You lot seem to think this Sodje is something special, If he his that good what the hell is he doing coming to you.Hhe had a bit of a run in the side because of injuries got a few goals and suddenly he's a world beater, Then he's out 7 months and his first game back he's going to destroy us .Bring it on i say give me BT every time

In all fairness to the swine they haven't got much to crow about so i'd say Sodje was their most dangerous player and i'd be happier if he didn't play.
Saying that i'm sure the Wednesday fans are much more worried about BT then we are about Sodje.
Michael_W 08-10-2008, 12:47 Sodje will make a difference if he plays, would like to see him and Jeffers together against United but fitness is a doubt obviously, defensively we look a bit dodgy, need Woody in at the back ! United go into the game looking strong so heres praying for another derby day upset at S6......COME ON WEDNESDAY !

What with your home record and our not so great away record, only 2 points seperating the teams i'd make Wednesday the favourites for this one.
You're the home team so it'll be up to you to attack us.

Jeffers and Sodje - the glass ankle brothers :)
I saw Jeffers on the box v Plymouth the other day, stone me that lads clapped some timber on.....even at 36yr old i can't see Ugo getting beaten for pace by him.
peterbld4 08-10-2008, 12:52 come on you blades we cant let them get the better ov us
blades to win
btw- if any blades are having a few beers before and after the game - we will probably be in champs on eccy road.
bring on the wednesday!

Surprisingly enough Jeffers has looked quite lively in his brief appearances in recent weeks, so providing he don't get injured you and Ugo may get a shock, let's hope Jermaine Johnson is on form too, I ain't making no predictions but it could be an interesting game, hope it's not a no score draw but I'll take that over a defeat

You seem to be forgetting Beattie, Sharp, Quinn, Cotterill, Speed and Howard...........!!!
Forget Jermaine Johnson, IF these lads are on form it won't be an interesting game cos it'll be over by half time!!
Beattie hasn't look "quite good" in recent wks he's looked quite amazing.

How can you forget J.J!.. he murdered your side last time round!
Stockers 08-10-2008, 13:10 How can you forget J.J!.. he murdered your side last time round!
Yes he did, do you think we'll make the same mistake again?
Did JJ murder Chris Armstrong down at Reading earlier in the season?

Not forgetting them Stockers, just concentrating on our strengths and weaknesses, neither of us know who will hit form on the day, like I said United are looking strong
Robbie Loving 08-10-2008, 13:47 Well my 5 week ban from the S&H FA doesn't come into effect till the 20th, so I'm still available for this game :)
My prediction is that it will be a poor game, as most derbies generally are.

To cut a long story short,
I chested a ball out for a throw in, the ref decided it was a hand ball (bizarre) and I told him it was a "dire decision" (exact words) so he gave me a yellow. Even their players and manager were telling him I chested it out
I ran to get back in position, my brother asked what the yellow was for so I responded "cause the ref has got the decision *insert swear* wrong I'm being booked"
He calls me back over, tells me he won't have anyone swearing at him and brandishes a straight red. I told him I hadn't sworn at him but he wouldn't listen.
It's strange really, cause normally I'd be shouting at the ref, but I was calm and complexed on this occasion.
Anyways, further to that, my brother kicked a ball at the end of the game to our club secretary who was half a pitch away, it brushed against the ref and he has sent my brother off too and reported back to the FA that it was "Assault". Pure madness.
Needles to say the ref had been a mans genetalia all game anyways.
Anyways, back on topic :)

You sound like Neil Warnock, you must have had your cards marked.
Sounds like the ref has issues with the Lovin family that day.
CorkerSWFC 08-10-2008, 14:43 Both teams have players which could influence the game, but its who keeps there head on a very highly tensed afteroon.
I fancy Jeffers to do something in this game, and i fancy a goal of Esajas a nice free kick into the top corner.

I'm with you pal.
When we got battered at Reading, I was here.
Wasn't here for the Plymouth match, as I was visiting friends in Leicester getting drunk in the afternoon.
After the Derby match, I'll either be out celebrating or drowning my sorrows.
We'll see. Game on
This thread is now a sticky.
Please try and keep all banter related to the Steel City Derby in here.
Cheers
SteveBlade 08-10-2008, 21:32 The way i see it, we could either rip apart Wendy and absolutley slaughter them. Or we could lose, or we could draw. :D
I cant be wrong.
The way i see it, we could either rip apart Wendy and absolutley slaughter them. Or we could lose, or we could draw. :D
So you could win....lose....or draw?
Interesting thought there steve..... Are you a football pundit? Or related to John Motson? ;)

The second one.
Just thought I'd share this with you all, I just read it on OwlsTalk and it is something I think that everyone here should read before the Derby match.
I was going to post something similar last year, but didn't do it , because at 49 years of age i wasn't quite mature enough...the year the Blades fans stood in total silence in memory of the Owls fans tragically killed in the return journey from Coventry...that same year a Blades fan sadly died of cancer on the ward i work on,
Andy Sage, an ardent Blade , a man of humour and an inate love of football, an inate ridiculer of anything to do with the Blue and White, and a bloke i came to class as close to a friend as a Wednesday fan might have towards a follower of the dark side, We had arranged to meet in a pub before the next Sheffield derby , tragically Andy lost his life before we could..and we won the ******...i never got the chance to stuff it up him and his family..This bloke once went down for an operation at 11pm at night and returned to the ward opiated and insensible, me and another Wednesday fan took the opportunity to dress him up in Wednesdays 1991 away kit, put upon him an Owls Duvet and wrote "every day is Wednesday" upon his forehead with a felt tip.....he went half a day until he noticed ...and still took it all in good spirits, tghats the day i stopped hating the Blades..I went to his funeral and didn't know whether to laugh or cry as his coffin rolled out to the tune of "Going Underground " by the Jam..
I'm sure he'll be looking down come a week Sunday...and i hope to **** he's disappointed
So thats why i don't hate the Blades...I don't ******'like 'em...but i don't hate them..
R.I.P andy..a year on
Earwiggo 08-10-2008, 22:12 You're right, Sodje is not God, but don't believe that we are nothing without him. He is very influential, yes, but we can be a very effective side without him as well.
We can also be a bit pants. :)
Our best 11, playing well, will do us proud. Playing poorly, I fear the worst.
If the lads are up for it, they'll do it.
If we allow Beattie and Sharp even one touch, that's one touch too much, and we could get punished. Howard is an unknown quantity at the moment, but from what I've been hearing, he could be quite useful, so he wants someone treading on his tooers ana'll. :hihi:
At the moment, Jeffers is also a novice at this level, but if he plays, and he's up for it, we could see a masterclass. He's got it in him (£10m to Arsenal) and one day, it's got to come out of him. :)
I don't think anybody wants to make a prediction on this one.... except Corker! :hihi:

Very humbling. Shame some supporters couldn't feel like these geezers in a million years.
It puts things in perspective dunnit? :(

NERVY-OWL 08-10-2008, 22:39 good of you to put that post on here igm, if only all fans could get along and not hate each other.
anyway, i'm dubious(as always) whether we will win. i thinkin a drow or a utd win:(, i do hope jeffers starts, he has shown some good touches when i've seen him and if he did get injured we always got sodje or tudgay to score. if jj and esajas play to their full ability it will be an interesting game. i'm sure bt will bag at least 1 goal(hope i'm wrong on that 1), he is really the only utd player i fear.

I hope it's a good game and the Blades win,but I reckon on a draw at the minute.
Earwiggo 10-10-2008, 08:51 Til we get more team news, I'm looking at Wednesday 1 Slugs 3 at the moment. I just hope that BL's whipping the back 4 in to shape, with the emphasis on not giving Beattie and Sharpe any space, then I would be a bit more confident. And for Pete's sake, if United get a free kick in a good position, say 25 to 30 yards out, get two defenders on the line to give Beattie (or whoever), nowt to aim at, and obviously, educate the team in how to deal with whatever plan Utd come up with to counteract this tactic.
It can't be difficult to repel any players who try to stand on the line with ours, or any player who tries to block Grant's view. Anything's got to be better than giving Beattie something to aim at, and the lottery of whether he misses the target, or Grant making a save. United found it hard to score in open play at the Lane last season, then we gave away a stupid free kick in a dangerous position, and the rest is history. We really need a red hot Sodje, and for Jeffers to start making an impact. An on form Johnson, Esajas, Sodje, Tudgay, Burton, or Jeffers will be well capable of beating United, but the main criteria is for the defence to be absolutely solid. At this time, I think they are incapable. I hope I'm wrong. After saying all that, it is a Derby and we all know owt can happen.
i'm going to stick my neck out and say the blades are going to hammer the owls this time round 5 nill, then you can shove boxing day where the sun dont shine
crookesey 10-10-2008, 11:19 Well Reading and Plymouth were so worried about us that they had to score 6 and 4 respectively against us to make sure that they didn't lose. :hihi:
With Wednesday v United derby's the unexpected (or a boring draw) is invariably on the cards, so current form is irrelevant. Ten games played, two points the difference, I would settle for a 1 - 0 last minute win with the ball going in off the ref's backside.

NERVY-OWL 10-10-2008, 19:47 until i see the team sheet its hard to judge. at the moment i'm going for a utd win but the team are more than capable of getting a win IF they can play to their full potential. if woody is playing i'm not too worried about the defence, think we've let in 2 league goals havent we at home
barmyowls 10-10-2008, 21:17 I think it will be a hard game for both teams ,
I hope owls win but i can see it being a draw .both teams raise there game in matchs like this so its always a hard one to predict but ill go for 2-2

Swings and roundabouts.
What about Quinn's winning goal a couple of years ago which brushed Shipperley on the way in when he was stood right on the goal-line and therefore undisputably offside?

BBAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!! Hold up Al, i've got a few more straws if you want to clutch at them as well.
Shipperley was over the line as the ball was kicked, either way he wasn't interferring with play and i know Wednesday are one of the luckiest team around but if that goal would have been disallowed for brushing his fat arse on the way into an empty net it would have been the biggest p**s take of the decade!!!
NERVY-OWL 13-10-2008, 18:37 lucky??? i dont think so stockers however i do agree that it was clutching a bit what al said but there are probably other things that have gone for either side when it shouldnt have, swings and roundabouts, all that

I think you'll find that they define interfering with play as "touching the ball passed or touched by a teammate". Try as I might, I just can't seem to see the clause which says it's OK to be stood behind the goal line when the ball is kicked and come back on to touch the ball in an offside position...
You often see goals disallowed where a player is stood in an offside position even when he doesn't touch the ball or is interfering with play (Glen Johnson's disallowed goal for England in Andorra being a recent example), so I don't really see how you can argue against Shipperley being in an offside position. Oh wait, I can - it was a blades goal wasn't it.

Floridablade 14-10-2008, 19:57 I can't see any result but a win for United, 2 points the difference but if the Owls had 2 points less they'd be lying in 17th place so at this stage 2 points is significant and then there's the goal difference to consider. All teams have an off day and a good day but given the average performance it'll be 3-1 and 3 more points to the Red and Whites.
So Wednesdayites eat your bacon for Sunday breakfast.

Earwiggo 14-10-2008, 22:15 Blades are getting in to their mass hysteria mood again, and it doesn't always go with the flow, does it chaps?
Not saying Wednesday will win, but it won't be easy for either team. There's not a lot in it. In fact, if Wednesday field their strongest side, there's nowt in it.
Earwiggo 14-10-2008, 22:30 Four players concern me a bit for the Derby, Beattie, Sharp, Howard and possibly Cotterill. If I were a Blade (perish the thought) I'd be equally concerned knowing we could possibly be facing an on song Johnson, Esajas, Tudgay, Small, Jeffers, or maybe even Sodje. It's a shame Burton's gone off the boil. If Woods plays at the back, and we decide to restructure to accomodate Simek (if he's ready) then the Owls will be a formidable outfit. Left back is concerning me at the moment, but I'm sure BL will sort it. We'll see how it goes in the next 2 or days.

Earwiggo 15-10-2008, 23:20 I feel a bit now, like I did in '79. You know, United doing better than us, full of confidence, on a roll and not really fancying our boys chances. The difference that keeps nagging at me this time, is the fact that IF our lads all do their jobs as well as we know they can, then Wednesday will come out on top. Oh for a crystal ball to see which 'Wednesday' will turn up. I'm still favouring Utd at the moment, but I'll make further judgement as we try to figure out who'll be doing what for Wednesday on Sunday. Recent RS interviews have centred around the 'Beattie won't get a sniff' approach. If our lads actions are as good as their words, and they carry this out, I can't see further than a Wednesday win. Can they shackle BT though? The official betting looks a lot closer than most Blunts seem to think it will be. Like every Owl on here, I don't want a hammering, but I want us to hammer United. I want a more modern version of the Boxing Day Massacre. I reckon that covers 99% of posters on here. It could be the year for it to happen .... or it could be nowt-nowt.

As for Sodje and Simek, I'm sure they're well up for it for 45 minutes. Don't want to undermine McMahon though, he's done really well since he came. I'm still concerned about the left back spot. Any weakness down that side, and Cotterill will take full advantage, believe me. Maybe Frankie back on the right, and McMahon at left back?
BL will get it right anyhow.

And how old are you 12 ?

CorkerSWFC 16-10-2008, 12:16 1 day closer to the answer i suppose, its gonna be a brilliant atmosphere for sure, lets just hope the game live's up to the hype.
I wonder how Brian Laws his getting on with his loan target that has made it interesting from the blue halfs opinion.
If i was to guess i reckon it will be a defender what will end up coming if any1.
al_partridge 16-10-2008, 12:32 hahaha!!! Stone me Al you're one boring git!!
Get over it man!!
Do you agree it would have been a disgrace if that goal would have been disallowed for offside?
You're really looking desperate here my friend, give it a rest eh.
Touched a nerve, intriguing.
I see this is following the usual pattern. Blade talks crap (trying to argue against the laws of the game in this case!), gets proven wrong by facts and evidence, so resorts to petty insults. So it's OK for one of yours to moan about an offside decision from way back when which went against you, but if I do the same it's desperate? Whatever.
Morally right or wrong to disallow the goal or not, according to the laws of the game it should have been. If it was the other way around and we'd scored a goal like that you'd have been claiming it was offside, and you know it.
I see this decade's period of being slightly better than Wednesday hasn't got rid of that massive chip on your shoulder from when you were growing up with your team in Wednesday's shadow!

McMahon has played leftback for Boro on the odd occasion, I think. I'd really rather not have Gilbert in the team for the derby, he's a definite weak link. It's still too soon for Simek so, unless we get another leftsided defender in on loan, why not go with McMahon on the left and Watson at rightback.
CorkerSWFC 16-10-2008, 12:44 I agree with that me, Watson leaves a lot to be desired in the centre at times to be honest, and i think he does all his best work at full back anyway.
Gilbert hasn't played that bad in recent game's but i know where your coming from.

Let us not forget which team got stage fright & went 2-0 down in the first place, in front of this [chortles] proper crowd.
Annnnnnd Blackwell was in charge for that.

At least it's Gilbert's proper position, and he hasn't done too bad of late, so maybe on the law of averages, it would be best to play him at left back.
We've no one else really, and to stick someone there playing out of position, might be a decision we'd regret ... ala JJ at right back??

To be honest Ian Blades are in a no win situation anyways.
If we lose its a massive upset and if we win we were supposed to win because we have the bigger, better squad and you lot have all these injuries etc etc :gag::gag:
The bigger better club is always supposed to win like Man U over Man City and Liverpool over Everton, Sheff Utd over Sheff Weds but sometimes the under priveliged neighbours win the odd one like last season ;)

Delusion again, the bookies arnt often wrong, 6/4 joint favs for the derby doesn.t tell me or any1 around the country that United are far superior to us.
Manchester United are worlds ahead of Man City, even with all citys money, as are Liverpool over Everton, you are a couple of points in front of us in the Championship and only after one game, like i say DELUSION.

Don't worry Thinything, you're quickly catching Earwiggo up as King Pigs!!

So because Canadablade lives in another part of the world he's less of a fan then you or me?
Grow up you muppet, just because your life doesn't extend any further than life on't 'cross it doesn't mean other fans of both United and Wednesday don't live outside of the city boundries.
Earwiggo 17-10-2008, 13:56 So you doubt my wisdom?
For the last time, you're not Man U, or Barcelona, or Real Madrid, you're an average Championship team. Get it through to your dumb skulls.
I see you forgot to copy and paste my bit about the Slugs fans beginning to brick it. That's for the simple reason that a lot of Slugs fans are 'beginning to brick it'.
A lot of Owls fans have predicted a draw or a small defeat .... but you Slugs cannot bring yourselves to type a bigger number for the Owls, than you will type for the Slugs. NOT ONE of you has the bottle to predict a Wednesday win, even if deep down, you personally could be a little bit nervous about it.
There is a BIG difference between us and you. We're realists while your lot seem to think you're an unstoppable machine. I say again, at the moment I favour a Slugs win, but I wouldn't be one bit surprised if Wednesday win 3-0.
If you look at the league stats, you'll see that you are indeed beatable ... quite easily beatable actually. We can be very good, or sh**e, I just hope the VG Wednesday turn up on Sunday. If not .....

No, I understand you CB.
It was just that stockers was insinuating you were the better fan because of distance travelled to see your team when it wasn't the reason for your visit.
I respect all the lads AND lasses who still follow their team as they are the ones who are keeping the clubs in business. Especially the blue side of the city as they have stuck with the club this season despite all the goings on off the pitch.
That shows real loyalty.
The blades can go on as much as they like about all the empty seats, but what kind of attendances would they have achieved if the situation was reversed?
I hope it's a good entertaining match without any trouble and the players and fans do the city proud.
And that Wednesday win of course
Stockers 17-10-2008, 16:14 The blades can go on as much as they like about all the empty seats, but what kind of attendances would they have achieved if the situation was reversed?
We had it all for most of our history, selling out best players to raise cash, dodgy characters on the board and even dodgier chairmen.
We have been up and down attendance wise but in the mid 90's i early turn of the Century we were averaging about 14k which isn't great.
Wednesday have had a few years of mis management on and off the pitch but nothing like the Blades put up with for years, many like me old man just go fed up, when we sold Deano he said he'd never go again and hasn't been back and i doubt he will.
I don't take Wednesday's attendance figures away from them but i think a lot of the banter from us Blades is tongue in cheek as all you lot gave us a couple of years ago was the attendence debate and it was relentless.
CorkerSWFC 17-10-2008, 17:17 It is sad to see so many empty seats round Hillsborough, but a lot of grounds would be the same around the country if they were as big as Hillsborough.
Stockers 17-10-2008, 17:53 It is sad to see so many empty seats round Hillsborough, but a lot of grounds would be the same around the country if they were as big as Hillsborough.
Too right, a reason i don't think it'd be wise to extend Bramall Lane to 40k.
We've got a great ground and could end up ruining the atmosphere if it gets too big and we end up with empty seats.
Earwiggo 17-10-2008, 17:58 It's not a pop at anybody, but does any Owl feel that this Derby situation is very similar to the Boxing Day match in '79? I remember in '79 I was absolutely brickin' it, and just hoped that the Slugs didn't overrun us. All the Slugs were extremely confident (quite rightly) and me and my mates were kicking every ball as it came in to our half. It wasn't long before all our fears were dispelled, and when the game settled down, we obviously all felt very, very comfortable with the situation. The apprehension is nowhere near as bad this time round, but I do think it's very similar to '79. I think the Slugs confidence this time around is more hope than expectation, and it could come back to haunt 'em again. Wednesday have not lost a league game at home for 11 games (that has to come to an end) and the Slugs have won 3 on the bounce (and this has to come to an end).
Credit both managers for their banter on RS, and I hope the 'fans' treat each other the same on Sunday. Draw ..... final answer, (but if Sodje comes on for the last 10 minutes and cracks a winner, that'll do for me)

I wasn't alive in '79 so have no idea what the build up to the game was like but in general most Wednesday-ites aren't fearing this match. I think you would be more had you not had a good start for although we aren't going to walk this league we are a good side (for the Champ) and have been on a good run. I still don't think we are a side to be massivlely feared - respected yeah but that's not the same.
I think the Slugs confidence this time around is more hope than expectation, and it could come back to haunt 'em again.
I think you could be in for a pasting IF we get the first goal AND Blackwell doesn't go too defensive/you equalise straight away. Being at home in the derby you would be going for the equaliser and we may catch you out again. If we don't get the first goal early I think it will be a tight game which could go either way.
Im not expecting a win in the way I would be expecting a win against Cheltenham at home in the FA CUP or whatever but I think we have a good chance. Compared to last years Hillsborough derby I am looking forward to it far more - no Robson and we've made a better start. Similar you have made a better start so it is making for a more highly anticipated match.
bladebloke 17-10-2008, 19:18 It's not a pop at anybody, but does any Owl feel that this Derby situation is very similar to the Boxing Day match in '79?
Draw ..... final answer, (but if Sodje comes on for the last 10 minutes and cracks a winner, that'll do for me)
go on then i'll ask you. i know you want someone to. otherwise you would'nt put it 100 times in your post.
why do you call blades slugs. i know your differant :loopy: to the rest of us.

no doubt you'll have a good reason :hihi:
Floridablade 17-10-2008, 19:22 We have to play it as though it's just another league game and not a cup match. If we do that we will win 3-1 simply because we have a better side and depth. If just one of your key players doesn't perform or is injured you'll be struggling.
bladebloke 17-10-2008, 19:22 Well thats 2 blades brickin it already

MICK-SWFC 17-10-2008, 20:57 Corker - whats the odds on a sending off on sunday?
Hope Im wrong (usually iam :hihi:) but I think either woody or macca will get sent off. If not Wednesday then maybe be quinny for the blades. I can see one sending off in sundays game.
CorkerSWFC 17-10-2008, 21:07 Red Cards
Sheffield Wednesday 9/1 Sheffield United 15/2

It's the same for you FB, we only respect Beattie and perhaps Sharp, and Howard could be a proper pain to us, but if any of these don't perform, you've nobody else. You're not Man U.

I just find it weird that both sets call each other pigs. I know why we call you pigs, bacon stripes an'all that, but can't understand the reasoning behind yours. I prefer to call you Slugs that's all. Horrible things slugs.
BTW, I found most of your recent posts funny, I underestimated you. You're a good lad really, not the knuckledragger I had you down for originally.

We're not unbelievably brilliant but Webber and Cotterill are good players too. I don't think Florida Blade just meant forwards either - Naysmith, Kilgallon, and Sun are good players too. On paper we have a better side no doubt about it but we will see on Sunday if that's enough.
Earwiggo 17-10-2008, 22:09 I wasn't alive in '79 so have no idea what the build up to the game was like but in general most Wednesday-ites aren't fearing this match. I think you would be more had you not had a good start for although we aren't going to walk this league we are a good side (for the Champ) and have been on a good run. I still don't think we are a side to be massivlely feared - respected yeah but that's not the same.
I think you could be in for a pasting IF we get the first goal AND Blackwell doesn't go too defensive/you equalise straight away. Being at home in the derby you would be going for the equaliser and we may catch you out again. If we don't get the first goal early I think it will be a tight game which could go either way.

I can't see a pasting for either side on Sunday. I think Wednesday have got their pastings out of the way for this season. I don't think any team will paste the Blades this season.

Probably not in reality but you never know. At 66/1 im having a fiver on 4-1 the blades - new central defender and a leaky defence (at times) it's not out of the realms of possibility. Maybe i'll regret these words at 3:30 on Sunday but I doubt I will be posting on here if I do.

Both sides have 'good' players. None of us have real, REAL quality. I can't see your defenders scoring many goals, and Esajas or Johnson on form, will run rings round 'em. In order of 'fearness' Beattie, Sharp, Howard, Speed. Against this, we have maybe Sodje, Tudgay, Burton, Jeffers, Esajas and Johnson, all potential goalgetters. It's certainly not cut and dried.

Almost anything is possible, but not likely in a Derby. At that price, why not have a fiver on? I reckon you'll be on here to stand your corner, win, lose or draw. I should be if I'm sober, but I don't drink much and usually get well wazzed before, during and after a televised game. I'll probably have my 5 or 6pints (I usually start wobbling abaht after 2 1/2) and struggle home to a thick ear and straight to bed wi no tea!

If it was at your place i'd probably agree with that given how poor away we have been but at Hillsborough i think it will be tight no one will win comfortably, i think it might even be a dull 0-0 but i think we can nick it with our pace down the flanks.
Floridablade 18-10-2008, 01:43 Mate normally i would agree, but sunday is all about bragging rights as you will no doubt see on here after sundays result
I just can't see how a bystander can get bragging rights, all the spectators have is a desire for a particular team to win and if they do are pleased but they didn't do anything to brag about.

This irritates the hell out of me. (not directed at you personally)
Loads of posters from both sides come on here dishing it out, and then if the result doesn't go their way then they don't post for a while!
What have you got to be scared of on a forum?

what irritates me is that some one should get all irratated because a faceless someone wont reply to him on an internet forum.
i'll be in the boozer tomorrow after the game and they'll plenty of pigs for me to get my digs in face to face. and same other way if things go wrong for us.
this forum is just a chance to wind up pigs and talk to blades you dont know. think you take it a tad too serious pigster.
Robbie Loving 18-10-2008, 08:36 I won't be on tomorrow because well I won't even be able to see a keyboard after we have mauled the Owls......
MONDAY BOYS AND I AM BACK
Robbie Loving 18-10-2008, 08:44 Oh, does anyone know the opening time of the Bankers, we have been informed it is 11, but ut's normally 9.....
Can anyone confirm?

No offence taken here but you've got the wrong end of the stick - I was saying it tongue in cheek , i'll put LOL or the laughing face in future as this happens a lot. My posts are probably a bit more serious than some other peoples but I am not seriously going to stay off here if we lose! It's just people having the crack or talking about footy.
Im going to the match and will go for either a couple after or stay out. I'll probably not be on here but if I am and you win i'll (grudgingly) admit defeat albeit with a few made up excuses:)

If someone said they'd give me a million pound if I got the exact score right (i.e. no different odds on different scores) I wouldn't say 4-1 but as it's 66-1 and not many people put it on the predictions it's worth a long shot.
I enjoy the legal high known as beer and if I don't stop out for the day i'll drink in the house after. I might come on here, I don't know - least your honest about your booze limits - typical Weds-ite though:hihi:
Thingything 18-10-2008, 12:47 Listen tinything
I can assure you I have spent more money in my lifetime watching the Blades than you ever will watching the Pigs...That is a FACT.
Dont come on here preaching who is a supporter and who isn't.
Ally68 is an owl who lives in germany I believe and last saw the owls about 15years ago or whenever it was she said.
Chuff probably last saw the Blades about the same amount of time ago.
FloridaBlade probably last went when we had Jimmy Hagan playing for us.
Yet its CB whos not a fan and doesn't support his team :loopy::loopy:
Do you call ordering stuff online from the club shop etc NOT SUPPORTING your club even though you put money into the club coffers but cant fly over every week for the matches.
Just by being at the Pig/Blades match at the Sty I was at one more match than quite a few posters on here :heyhey::heyhey: FACT
Now enjoy getting bladdered and going home and kicking the dog after we beat you Sunday...I will be at the pub enjoying the match with a beer in my hand , My Blades shirt on and wathcing it on tape delay...See if it was at Bramall Lane and not a second rate ground it would have been shown LIVE :D

Joint 3rd if we win and only 5 points from the top! Birmingham aren't looking as indestructibe as they were, Wolves have Mick 'were not as good as we think we are' (actual comments before a home match against Reading?!?!) McCarthy as their manager and Kevin Doyle is likely to leave Reading in Jan. A win tomorrow and good performances nad results in the err, other 34 games and Premiership here we come.
