hi,through usage im gradually losing pc memory,ive been told to clean it up and get rid of all the junk thats accumilated over the years, i have the kids music and family pics i dont want to lose,can any one advise how to clean up but leave the stuff i want to save please

pick out all the good bits and save onto cd, really you should save all the downloads, rips and docs onto cd as you go, just in case, you never know whats gonna happen, you may get hit by a virus that wipes all your drives out tommorow, who knows.
you can go thru manually and delete all the cookies, internet temp fold, temp folders, various bak files.
or use the windows cleanup program / clean up internet files from within IE , but that way you get less of a choice of what it deletes and what it keeps

thanks, i use the clean up option and also tools, internet options, clear files folders etc does this clean away the unwanted crap such as failed downloads and such?

errrrm im not sure tbh, i delete all that crap as i go....i think it just empties the normal places cookies, temp, temp internet etc

But be aware that cheapo Cdr's may not have the life expectancy that was previously thought.Write to DVD is better if possible,again with a decent brand.

Failed downloads are cached as temps so yes it does remove them. Unless you specify a certain area for the download and you can clearly see you have half of the wanted file etc.
