View Full Version : Eyam Walk 12th October 2008
Eyam seems to be one of our favourite places to walk, and no apologies for making another visit to one of the most fascinating villages in Derbyshire.
This walk is about 7 miles long, and takes us from Eyam to Stoke Ford, where following a stop at The Plough Inn at Leadmill, we will return to Eyam, where I am told we will be having tea and cakes on the village green!
The starting place for the walk will be outside the church in the centre of Eyam, where there is roadside parking, at 10.15 a.m. to coincide with the arrival of the 65 bus which leaves from Sheffield Interchange at 9.30 a.m. The return bus leaves at 15.40.
It would be nice to see some new faces, (and a few old ones) on this one; which will be a nice steady walk around some lovely old historical sites in the famous old "Plague" village
neoteric 05-10-2008, 20:38 I seem to have missed out on the last 2 Eyam walks so I'm really looking forward to going on this one.
I'll put my hand in the air for this one
I have never walked in the Eyam area so I will try and make this one, it was good to hear that you all enjoyed the Longendale walk.
Agent Orange 08-10-2008, 10:48 I might toodle down as I have never been to that village.

Good. Maybe we can discuss a Camping Group :)
Hi!
Perhaps we could join you for cakes on the village green?

That would be rather spiffing
Hippiechick3 10-10-2008, 22:31 I confess to a planned hangover for Sunday (out with work Saturday night) but will attempt to make it. I love Eyam its a fantastic village. I could possible make it for cakes later when I've had my much deserved lie in though :)

Hmmm. I've turned down a prospective work hangover, must be growing up at last, I would never have done this a year or two ago!

Seems that I fated not to walk in Eyam, I've just had some domestic/family business come up that I need to attend to tomorrow.
Hope everyone enjoys it.

Help Leaders Required! It was so nice we went Rivelin/Wyming. Just about to call in Three Merry Lads and both of us had forgot money!got to the bottom of the winding hill after cutting down past Three Merry Lads etc. Then got lost! Cut down the road but got the wrong side of the river and ended up in the middle of nowhere! After about the fourth attempt to find our way out (like something outta of Blair Witch) and passing a very confused pensioner twice! we stumbled back on the original path. Makes mental note to pay more attention in the future!
I wnt to linacre reservoir, but didn't manage to walk very far. Hope everything is ok Scoobz - no idea why you cancelled - nothing serious I hope

Thanks for your concern Hemlock, nothing serious at all, just a combination of factors.
