my kids nan was taking her yorkshire terrier for a walk and a large bull mastiff attacked and killed her instantly the police were informed and nobody turned up the owners said that it had got off garden and what do they want her to do they would buy her another dog she had the dog for 7 years and my kids have been brought up with her i thought you had to report any sort of dog attack
Unfortunatley the police do not treat this sort of thing as urgent unless it was a child that was attacked. The control of dogs act though means that the owners of the Mastiff could be in trouble under the control of dogs order for not keeping their dog under proper control whilst in a public place.
I would contact them again and ask them if they will be applying this to the owner of the Mastiff. I hope that something is sorted, it wont bring back your nans dog, but the Mastiff may be prevented from attacking someone elses pet.
RIP little Yorkie.:(

Id agree contact them again if they refuse to take any action and you want to take it further go to the magistrates court tell them you want to make a complaint under section 2 of the dogs act 1871.
Dont forget all though there willing to buy her another dog if you take them up on that take into consideration all injections are covered as well dont know if the dog was chipped but add every thing up.I know it dosnt relace the lost one but try and get as much as possible from them.

Gosh, that's awful!
It's bad enough it being a dog, but imagine if it had of been a child?! That would ahve been awful...
R.I.P Yorkie
Thats horrid , I am so sorry for your nan who witnessed this all and lost her friend. We walk an old ladies dog , she would be devastated and her life would be very empty.
my total sympathy for her and her friend.

There was a yorkie cross for rehoming on here earlier. It won't replace your nans dog but it might help.
