I can remember hearing a new cinema was to be opened near wicker, near the round about?

does any one know if this is still suppose to happen?

I think they were proposing it for the Markets site.

I seem to remember money was a problem. Shame.

as far as i rememeber it was supposed to be on the old sheaf markets site but the deal fell through it was going to be a big waner village like meadowhall used to be. but theres a car park there now so i do not know whats there doing with it. we could do do witha decent cinema in sheffield instead of that little one

why have a cinema in skid row anyway. Best thing would be for the odion to buy the old roxy disco and flatten it. then build a decent cinema. somthing with screens like the one at centertainment :)

But yeah I've heard they wanna do some appartments and 'ave a market (A market there now there's a novel idea !)

But yeah, for Odeon, buy off Roxy Disco and extend the existing one, it's situation is grand but it's small and a bit sh** :D :D

Personally I HATE the Odeon internal layout. Having lived in Dundee and seen the other Odeon layout [like the FAR better UGC], I think as England city number 4 we deserve MUCH better.


Flatten Poxy Roxys and give us a DECENT cinema in town, please.

Nah, clear out the inside of Roxy, get it re-done and let's have a decent Lazer Quest building, somewhere with proper equipment and not the rubbish at the old Lazer Zone................bring back what we used to have where the Bankers Draught pub is now, ahhhhh, memories........lol

The plans for the old market site fell through when Warner cinemas pulled out.

I think planning permission was granted in the last week or so for a "prestigious" office building suitable for such a prominent position (whatever that means :) )

Also prestigious buildings are known to be useless.

I have ever only been to odeon once [that long ago i cant remember wen it was] and i HATE it... needs a full make over!
