I for one welcome our thought police overlords with welcoming arms
On a fantasy porn site. Ummm, I guess that is just how some sickos get their kicks.
...what sort of person would want to do this to them?
Someone who, as a child, killed animals with a rock and fed them to a crocodile?

The test is whether the material is likely to deprave or corrupt those reading or viewing it
so when are they arresting girls aloud?

To be honest im with the civil servent on this one - they have been lowering the standards of music on the planet for far too long and must be stopped.
I wonder if it had been written about 5 unknown women rather than Girls Aloud whether anyone would have batted an eyelid?
Its about time really. :)
I second that :hihi:

A civil servant is being prosecuted over an internet blog which detailed the kidnap, torture and murder of the pop group Girls Aloud. Darryn Walker, 35, of South Shields, South Tyneside, is accused of writing and posting the 12-page "Girls (Scream) Aloud" story on a fantasy porn site.
He was arrested by Scotland Yard officers earlier this year and charged under the Obscene Publications Act. He is next due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on 22 October.
The blog was brought to the attention of police by the Internet Watch Foundation - an organisation for the public and IT professionals which polices potentially obscene material. The test is whether the material is likely to deprave or corrupt those reading or viewing it.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said it was unusual to see a prosecution brought under obscenity laws which did not involve pornographic images in magazines or DVDs.
To be honest I find the prosecution draconian and ridiculous at the same time. What has he done except write a fantasy story? You might think it's a bit sick, but he hasn't hurt anyone. Shouldn't the CPS be looking for real criminals who are making peoples life a misery?

Thread resurrection time!!
I chose to quote this post, cos isn't this kind of the point? GA make a career of convincing the gullible and weak minded that they might have a chance of, well, you know "of what" :)
When someone responds similarly, they are threatened by the CPS! If this is in anyway to do with obscene publication, then when are the producer / director / actor / writer of almost any recent pop video gonna get arrested?
Anyway, I dragged this thread, kicking and screaming (for mercy) into November, cos I just read this article about the case:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/11/12/fred_vermorel_girls_aloud/
I so agree with these statements from the article:
It's the absence of a written constitution that creates a sense that in the UK we have liberties on sufferance – as "subjects" rather than citizens. Rather than legally enforceable rights we have temporary freedoms - loaned us by the governing classes, case by case, for the time being, until an "emergency" or summat else crops up.
The resulting secretiveness and arrogance of the British State infantilises the population: we are all naughty kids, in a great big nursery.
Anywhere else in the Western world, and for any sane adult, Darryn Walker's musings would seem as fictional – as hyperbolic, as symbolic - as the "promise" of Girls Aloud singer, Sarah Harding flashing her bits at the paparazzi.
