Amber adores all the kids and mothers them to death.
She has taken on a new role in our house.
Recently we have moved around the bedrooms, so have had a couple of broken nights with the kids(different surroundings).
Each time the little un (nearly 4) wakes up or is unsettled, Amber comes to my bed, grabs the quilt in her mouth and pulls it off till I get up and settle him down.
How clevers she?
I always thought she was a bit dopey, but she`s clever when it matters:)
Dogs are brilliant at making themselves responsible for things :D
My dad has hearing problems - high pitched sounds don't register - so he couldn't hear the phone. Our westie decided he was a hearing dog, and would tell my dad the phone was ringing. Shame my dad's clueless with dogs and just treats them like they're thick, so would just say to the dog 'I don't know what you want'
Brude tells us if we've got past our dinner time - beagles being totally food orientated (you should see how confused he looks that we've not bounded out into the kitchen to cook half an hour before we're 'supposed' to! :hihi: He started doing this when I was working away from home and often used to forget completely about eating
Molly's very good at looking after babies and children too- she's normally really ball orientated, but when there's a little one around we have to coax her away from just lying in front of them (facing outwards, like a guard) to play with her ball. When there's no baby about Molly has to be able to see me all the time, but when there's a baby to look after I don't get a look in.
She's just the same with kittens actually- she doesn't want anyone other than me getting too close to them and comes to me to flap and tell me about it if they do. She includes the grown up cats in her 'need to keep them away from my babies' list too.
Molly also totally eliminates the need for a doorbell. Whether she barks or not, she has already told me that there's someone standing outside the door well before they've knocked.
If Amber is anything like Molly she's paying attention even when she's asleep (Molly sleeps with her eyes open and I've never seen her asleep enough that you can approach her without her coming to full attention before you reach 6' away from her. We often refer to her as our furry PIR- the ears and eyes come into focus when you move in front of her while she's asleep.
We were only talking about her sleep patterns yesterday medusa, oh asked me when she sleeps?
She just seems to be doing something all the time.:hihi:
Aw bless her :D
Takara recognises the sound of the oven timer  (Typical bloody dalmatian) and comes to get me if it's beeping to say dinner's cooked

Amber also likes the oven timer, she barks her head off everytime it dings, I think she thinks its the doorbell(even though we havn`t got one)cos she always heads for the front door when it goes off:hihi:
My mum's dog used to be in charge of cooking the sausages - so much so that the first time we visited after she lost Cash, she told Brude off for letting them get over done!
