I was watching the Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night, as I do most nights, and it struck me that once upon a time, British TV prided itself on making similarly satirical TV (think the Frost Report/That Was The Week That Was and more recently Spitting Image and even to a degree Have I Got News for You?).

But what have we got now? Mock the Week? Do me a favour. Why can’t British TV make programmes as humorous and insightful as the Daily Show anymore? Have we lost the touch? Or is it just a dearth of intelligent comedians?

Any views?

it was very good last night. althrough his guest was plugging a book,
he spoke good sense about politicians. " stop talking to us like we were babies"

I was looking forward to last nights because I knew it would be about the Katie Couric interview. It was very funny.
