at the moment my little baba has a very bad cold, its quite distressing for her and me but more than anything i am worried as she has got cold hands and feet.. i cant seem to warm them up.. the doctor said this is ok but i am worried. has anyone experienced this before with kids?
any advice would be grateful
Never experienced it directly but one thing to note is whether they're a different colour or not to teh rest of the skin.
Also, are they really colder or is that based on what you feel? If you touch her feet after touching a hot part of her (assuming she's running a fever) then your sense of touch can be confused.
I'm not a medic, though. Hope she gets over it soon.

My son`s always had cold hands and feet when ill.
If they do I was told that`s good, as the illness is not making them too hot. Its when there hands and feet are hot, their temperature is rising.
Keep an eye on the temperature, but she should be ok.
last night wen i bathed her her hands and feet went red compred to rest of her body. it looked like she had red boots/gloves on ! if i touch her hand then move up her arms it gets warmer.. her dad has poor circulationa dn sufffers all the time with cold hands and feet but this only occured in her since the cold started:confused:

Hi
Its fairly normal for babies to have extremeties (i.e.hands and feet) colder than their torso. Their cicuraltion is still not as well developed as an adult which is why you shouldn't let them overheat. Just keep an eye on the body temperature by feeling its back and you should be okay.
HI. When somebody is ill, their body tends to let the circulation focus on the main organs of the body and so things like hands, feet, lips etc dont get as much blood going to them, causing them to be colder than the rest of the body.
This is more obvious in babies and children as their circulatory system isnt as well developed as adults. Hope this helps xxxxx
P.S. If you are still worried just go back to the doctor for reassurance :)
thanks everyone:clap:  she is doin good, just got snot coming out everywhere and gunge in her eyes!:gag: not a pretty sight bless her
Awwww bless! Im a student paediatric nurse so Im used to seeing the lovely little things with snot dribbling all over....such a lovely sight!! not!
Hope she gets well soon xxx
How come doctors don't explain things to you like Sam just did? If your doctor had told you that then you wouldn't have worried as much as him just saying 'oh it's normal'!

It should clear it up. Also gently massage her tear duct with breast milk as they can become blocked in new babies and it helps.
