View Full Version : Anyone live on the wybourn summer1955 14-05-2005, 08:38 hi anyone live on the wybourn and can give their opinion to the streets around there have been told its not a nice area to live on. Plain Talker 14-05-2005, 10:00 Like all districts, it has its pockets of the odd street where it is not as nice. I am giving this info, as the daughter of a Wybourn resident, incidentally. (and my uncle lived on the top end, in the older houses near skye edge, from the mid '70's until the late '90s) My father moved to Wybourn last year, and his opinion is that the street he is now living on, is better than the street that he moved from, in a neighbouring dstrict. (and he'd lived there 25 yrs) He is very happy there. My father's street is very quiet. I have never heard any "bother" in the area round my dad's place. Benefits of Wybourn? reasonably close to town near to tram there is a community association, based at wybourn school very frequent bus services, :- top end, the 22 runs every 10 mns, in the daytime, lower end, the 25/ 25a, and the number 13( or is it the 14? which replaced the 93, to woodhouse, iirc)all run frequently. adult education courses are held locally if you are interested the houses have had a "refurb", so they don't have the horrid "porch" toilets, and becasue the loo is now upstairs, it means that the kitchens are not too bad a size, as, in most properties, is extended to take in the area where the loo and "coal house " were. PT summer1955 14-05-2005, 20:50 hi plain talker thanks for your oppinion of wybourn. Hubert 15-05-2005, 10:25 I was bought up on whites lane wybourn my dad lived there for like 30 years and alot of my family still live there. Whites lane was reletively quite and most of the people, provided that you dont get on the wrong side of them are friendly enough. On the other side of St Johns school field theres a new housing estate that was full of teenage yobbos looking for a fight. Other than that i never saw any real problems. What bit of the wybourn where you looking at? Likeplain talker said theres just the odd streetsi would avoid like the plague. Most of the residents are older people who have lived there all their lives and are not likely to start causing trouble for no reason. I would advise you not to get into petty arguements though, because those freil old ladies usually have 60 grand children who love her very much :P youwhatref 15-05-2005, 10:35 I haven't loved there although my sister did for 8 years and moved only recently. It is one of the poorer estates although i'd agree that some roads/streets rae fine and others are not. My sister liked it there but in the end thought there was a few problem families and decided to move on. summer1955 15-05-2005, 11:39 not sure what part of wybourn yet only that it could be a possibility to move on to as having quite a bit of trouble were i am living at the moment and want to get away from it.i know there are a lot of estates now that have there fair share of trouble and you can put up with a little but not a lot. thought if there were anyone on this forum that lived there or had rellies living there and could tell me what there street is like. spyro2000 15-05-2005, 16:18 Ive lived in Wybourn for a couple of years and havent had any trouble whatsover. Ive lived in various areas of sheffield and have found that Wynbourn is as good, if not better than all of them. Clik32 16-05-2005, 05:09 My sister lives on Manor Oaks Close and it's lovely round there. Never had any trouble |
