Does anyone know a mobile doggie hairdresser? Well either mobile, or someone who would clip my springer while i wait? I'm not having her done yet, as she's only a baby - thought I'd probably wait til next spring, but wanted some recommendations so for once I'd be organised in advance. Took my last springer to a farm type place at Clowne, who apparently do dogs for crufts. They were brill, but I had to leave him all day and go back and pick him up later.

I use Barking Mad for my Yorkie. Kerry is v efficient and excellent with dogs. She came to my house. First time my dog had a cut (I got him from someone who did not want him), he was overgrown and tangled. You couldn't see his face! Kerry spent 2 hours sorting him out, poor thing was terrified, but she was calm and gentle, sooting and would break off to let him be cuddled etc, often by her!

I was so impressed I gave her a 25% tip. She only charged £15 for a 1st time mess of a Yorkie so I had to give her £20. Lovely girl.

Just say the girls with the Yorkie in S2 as a recommendation and she'll know who you mean.

I have been recommended Barkers for the next time my Cocker spaniel is clipped, apparently they are mobile groomers. I have tried wendys before and i wasn't pleased with the result. But thats just me!! It could be that i'm just too picky.

That sounds like what I'm looking for Archaeobard. I'll give Kerry a ring when she's ready for cutting. Thankyou :D

I offer a while you wait service and you can come into the salon and watch her being groomed if you wish.

One thing I will advise is that you take her sooner rather than later to get her used to being groomed. She does not necessarily have to have much done at this stage, but she does need to experience the procedure from a young age, being on the table and being asked to stand, lift her legs, have her feet touched etc. Many people make the mistake of taking a dog to be groomed too late and the dog is terrified. My friend is bringing her springer pup as soon as she has had her 2nd vacc, just for a comb through and to tidy her feet, nails etc.

I am based in Dinnington.

I never thought of that Gemima. She's still recoveing from being spayed but maybe I should get her just tidied up a little - just don't want her to lose all her lovely curls yet, and get cold seeing as the weather's so cold at the moment. Unfortunately Dinnington's a bit of a trek for me. I think I'd be better getting her done at home, then I don't need to worry about booking her in for when Mr SpeedDemon is at home to look after the kids.

Thats fine no worries. A good groomer will get her used to the sound of the clippers for when she is ready and not actually use them. You want it to be a good experience for her, so ask them to introduce things slowly and rest the clippers on her back to feel the vibration etc, taking the pressure off if she is unsure.

Good look with her, she may just take it all in her stride and suprise you.

She's very friendly and loves fussing and stroking. I don't think she'll mind, as long as she can stand still for long enough

Where is she based? I take it she will travel anywhere? I'm gonna give her a ring in a week or so when Tilly is fully recovered from the apy. Any idea how much she'd charge for a small springer? I guess she's more like the size of a cocker.

Ring kerry on the number above and she will come to your house, she lives in Chesterfield, so not far from sheffield 8.

I live in Rotherham and she travels to me, you wont be disappointed.

hi,anyone who has their dog or cat groomed shouldn,t have to leave their pet their all day it's just not fair on them.the appointments should be staggerd so the pet gets the groomers full attention where they can deal with them with loads of tlc.whether it's a pup or an old dog they should enjoy their visit, therefor wanting to come again cos they enjoyed it.the more commercial ones book loads in to make money the smaller one's are more personal and usually more passionate because of their love of animals.like any profession there are good and bad ones,if you find someone you are happy with and your dog likes them stick with them they are like gold dust.

Just to resurrect this old tread, I finally got around to calling Kerry and she came to cut Tilly this morning. What a lovely friendly lady she is! Tilly was a little nervous, but Kerry soon calmed her and gave her and our other dog lots and lots of fuss. I would thoroughly recommend her to anyone needing a dog groomer! Thanks to archaeobard & shihtzumad for passing her onto me :D

I may have to call Kerry.

Our Lhasa has just come back from the second groomer we've tried and we're not happy - maybe we are too fussy, but they seem to do exactly the opposite of what we ask!!

Do you think she'd travel to S6?

She asked me before she cut anything off. I'm really pleased with her - I can actually see her toes now, rather than just tufts lol. I'm sure she would travel, give her a call, you won't be disappointed

Does anyone know the phone number of Barking Mad (Kerry). I have phoned her mobile and she is not answering. The other number 01246 474575 is not her number. Can anyone help? OR has anyone used Paws from Heaven?
