I have just recieved a letter from British gas that says that my monthly direct debit payment will now be £57.00.
Is it me or does this seam too high?
I only live in a small house and hardly have the heating on. Plus according to the bill I have been paying for more gas than I've used and I'm £76 in credit!
I know the price of gas has gone up but I did that price freeze thing.
How much do you pay a month?

Compare £57 with your PREVIOUS DD.

Is it about 30% more? (I'm guessing that BG went up by 30% - if not increase it by whatever price increase they gave)

Argue that you are in credit, if you can get thro' to them!!!!!!!

Personally I would not use BG if they were free.

The increase is not 30% but what I don't understand is that I froze my gas price untill 2011. I will give them a ring tomorow.

It does sound a lot. We still have the pre-pay meters that were in the house when we moved in, and spend £29 (the most you can put on the card in one go, apparently) every 5 weeks or so.

ETA - I expect it will go up over winter though.

take a good book, and perhaps look for a cheaper phone number (look on saynoto0870 - even if it is 0845).
