View Full Version : How often can you bath 2 collies ? kimba 02-10-2008, 18:27 hi my freind has just been and she has 2 collie dogs, she says that after a week or 2 they begin to smell and was wondering how often you could bath them ? teeny 02-10-2008, 19:26 I would only bath them a few times a year or you will destroy the natural oils in the coat. I noticed Woodseats super pet sell a spray to make them smell better ! I have a sheltie who loves getting wet and rolling in goodness knows what!! SpeedDemon 02-10-2008, 19:32 I have some K91 eau de dog for Blade, doggy equivalent of CK1 :hihi: Helly 02-10-2008, 19:46 Johnsons also do a doggy deodourant (with a pump spray rather that aerosol). hodgepig66 02-10-2008, 20:25 hi,its true you shouldn't bath dogs all the time it does strip off the natural oils in the coat however who wants their dog to be smelly. It also can make a big difference depending on what food the dog is given.Go for quality never supermarkets home brands and especially not (BAKERS)in a word it's crap.im a cat and dog groomer see it a lot.....food quality not quantity. fox20thc 02-10-2008, 20:27 well porscha gets a really scruffy neck (even when she isn't rolling in fox poo) any suggestions? SpeedDemon 02-10-2008, 20:34 baby wipes :) teeny 02-10-2008, 20:38 mine often roll in fox poo!!!! baby wipes help but clothes pegs for nose are better fox20thc 02-10-2008, 20:50 baby wipes do not beat the fox poo smell! I have to give her a power shower! SpeedDemon 02-10-2008, 20:52 rofl, dunno then fox! Honestly dont think I've ever come across fox poo :gag: teeny 02-10-2008, 20:54 Fox poo is very common in Graves park, Chancet wood , Lady spring wood by beauchief Abbey, believe me I have super poo finder dog here!! fox20thc 02-10-2008, 20:56 and rivelin ... teeny 02-10-2008, 21:03 well put it this way if we are walking Badger anywhere that there is some he is 100% garunteed to find it fox20thc 02-10-2008, 21:05 I'd love to know why its so good :hihi: teeny 02-10-2008, 21:24 so wouldI , i hate it the smell is so ermmmmm s****Y it just does nothing for me fox20thc 02-10-2008, 21:29 so wouldI , i hate it the smell is so ermmmmm s****Y it just does nothing for me it smells of vomit and poo :gag: and..........lingers teeny 02-10-2008, 21:38 oh yes it sure does, I would rather badger went in smelly Mud! Moonbird 02-10-2008, 21:54 Tomatoe ketchup is supposed to be great for getting rid of fox poo smell on a dogs coat, rub it in and then shampoo it all off, I believe that it can dye white coats pink though :hihi: fox20thc 02-10-2008, 21:56 what about bald bellies Lotti 02-10-2008, 22:07 To the OP. I would try not to bath them too much. You would be better off with the dry shampoo that you rub into their coat and comb out. Leaves them smelling lurvely! Like someone else said, check what they're eating, make sure it's not their anal glands that are making them smell (some dogs need them emptying regularly) and little things like washing their bedding, their collars etc should help. What good is it bathing your dog if it's sleeping on a dirty bed? I'd try those things before bathing the dogs too much. Dally are notorious for grooming themselves constantly but it's amazing - they're white dogs and they only ever have a bath maybe twice a year (and Takara swims in stinky, fishy water regularly! Takara sometimes has a bath before a show but we've been known to go to shows not having bathed her before hand! kimba 02-10-2008, 22:12 thanks everyone for the replies they are really usefull and i will pass them on to my freind in the morning :D Helly 02-10-2008, 22:34 Tomatoe ketchup is supposed to be great for getting rid of fox poo smell on a dogs coat, rub it in and then shampoo it all off, I believe that it can dye white coats pink though :hihi: Yes, this is indeed true (the bit about dying white dogs) Casper once stole a bottle of ketchup and it took aaaagggges to go away. kimba 03-10-2008, 08:40 morning :D i have just been on the phone to my freind and she would like to know wat would be the best doggy deodrant for them and where to buy it from ? thankyou. Gemima 03-10-2008, 09:21 Not bathing a dog regularly is actually false, depending on which type of shampoo is used. Johnsons and other well known brands of shampoo, flea shampoos etc are harsh and full of chemicals so no dont bath your dog often in commercial shampoo. Grooming salons use gentle, plant based shampoos which wont harm your dogs skin and can be used regularly. You can buy good shampoo here... http://www.groomers-online.com/ Alternatively it wont do your dog any harm to bath regularly with human baby shampoo as it is so mild, even on a newborn baby, the downside is, it does not get rid of real muck!!. |
