Five of the audio files on my pc that I want to burn using nero are not MP3s. When I try to add them to the burn list on nero they are omitted. (I actually thought that nero would have converted them). I have looked in the properties and each file is a windows media track (as opposed to mp3).

Right clicking on the file displays a drop down menu and one of the options is “convert audio format” Clicking on this offers an option to convert to MPEG Layer-3 at three qualities (Windows media audio, Windows media audio variable bit rate, Windows media audio lossless). No options appear for conversion to mp3

How can I convert to mp3 for burning?

Converting one compressed format to another will result in crappy sound. Maybe try installing WMA support for Nero to burn directly:

Didn't they drop free mp3 support from this after version 10? (It's now on version 13)

Here's a copy of version 10 which should include mp3 conversion:

Thanks for that. I downloaded the dBpower amp file converter ok but encountered problems after downloading the codecs for windows media http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-windows-media-audio.htm

This downloaded ok but I keep getting an error at the installation stage displayed as below:

Error while running `C:\program files\illustrate\dBpoweramp\dBconfig.exe`
I do not know how I can resolve this and the codecs are required for the WMA (windows media audio files) conversion.

Slug- I uninstalled the dBpoweramp and the the codec for windows xp (as per the link i posted).

When you say uninstall it, i do not know which you are referring to as we are talking about two downloads here (please clarify).

Also, when you say that i will need the LAMEmp3 codec, are you referring to the same codec that i am having problems installing or something else? (Please clarify)Thanks

uninstall db and have a look through add/remove and get rid of any codec packs then head over here and install this
http://www.majorgeeks.com/K-Lite_Codec_Pack_Full_d4844.html
then install dbpoweramp
from there i think if you try open an mp3 it will pop up saying need LAME click here to install...

then bobs ya uncle
(i hope)

Hi Slug. Yes finally got it working. I had to download additional codecs (for a couple of tracks) not bundled with the standard download. These were an AAC audio file & an MPEG4 file, but the additional download worked on them ok.

What happens after the trial period if i don`t pay to register? Does the software then become unusable? Of the 350 or so tracks i have, there were probably less than 20 that needed changing. I only play the stuff in the car & on the mp3 player when on the bike.Cheers:thumbsup:
