View Full Version : Takapuna, strange notice on the door? Still open though.
Just been past and a notice is on the window stating Landlord has taken back possession of the venue, and anyone trying to re enter will be liable for prosecution.
Any one know anything further? Has it been struggling?
DelMonte 02-10-2008, 12:09 god I hope so, awful place! :gag:
jamesogt 02-10-2008, 14:12 I thought the venue looked nice, does sign say who landlord is?

lynzi123 02-10-2008, 16:31 i rang my mate about this as we love love love takapuna and she popped over and said there was no notice that she could see..you almost gave me a heart attack!
It was nice inside, probably a bit too nice for the kind of people you get on West Street.
Note on the Window Claims on 24th september @ 1.45pm Landlord has peacefully entered premises and the rest in the original post. I guess we'll see tonight wether it's open or not.
Shame if Takapuna's shut...
I always found it a great venue and polite doorstaff...
PuressenceUK 02-10-2008, 21:32 Good that's one less R 'n' B noise pollution venue closed down in the City Centre. Only another 107 to go.
Yes it is a s***hole, but I walked past less then an hour ago and I am sorry to confirm that it is most definately open...:(

It is only a rumour i know who owns the bar a private individual and can assure you he has no intention of giving it up anytime soon

If this is true, it would be nice if they paid their suppliers before opening another bar. I know some people that supply them and they owe thousands.

How can you say that !!! Takapuna was / is a great place - admittedly some of the bar decor and finishing seemed a bit rushed and flimsy when they were put up but it has hosted some brilliant comedy nights upstairs in the past - both straight AND GAY - which must be a first in the country - and long may it continue to do so - I do hope the rumours of it closing down are false since I have often been known to drop in there for a martini and a natter with my girl friends ...

I'd be interested to know what you thought made it a s***hole, the decor, the prices, and if it was a s***hole I dread to think what you make of the rest of the "bars" on West Street, which IMO are all much worse than Takapuna is/was.
Or perhaps you just didn't get past the doormen one night ?

Oh no, I've got past the doormen on a number of occasions and have never been refused entry...;)

Odd that you would keep going to a place you think is a s**thole ?

each to their own I suppose, I only went a handful of times I found it that bad. For me it felt like one of those places like Crystal thats full of townies who don't think they're townies because they're spending thirty nicker on a round of drinks. The door staff looked you up and down like you were trouble/scum just cos you weren't a scantily clad bright orange girl and the barstaff weren't much better. ******** to the place
LittlePlum 08-10-2008, 19:37 In the public notices section in The Star newspaper tonight I noticed that Takapuna is listed under the " In Liquidation" bit dated 24th September
swfc1867 10-10-2008, 11:26 i think it is ok in takapuna
