I dunno why it is, but Japanese women always want to make western guys Japanese food, and especially soup.
This is good, because it's yummy.
I have a friend from Japan who's now in London sightseeing, but she's coming to stay up here for an indeterminate period..
Is there anywhere here where she can get proper Japanese ingredients? Do any of the Chinese supermarkets in and around London Rd cater for Japanese - style goods...?

I'm not sure if it's Japanese or Korean but I know there is an Oriental Supermarket in Broomhill now. Just opposite the late supermaket.

Japanese girls in sheffield? WERE WERE! I want to meet them.... ^^
The Asian supermarket in Broomhill whose name escapes me right now, is full of Japanese ingredients (as well as other SE Asian stuff).
It is a lovely shop but doesn't seem to be getting many customers so please encourage your friend to go there as I'd hate to see it close down.
Shop local
There's an oriental shop down the moor that sells Japanese stuff. It's very nice actually.
It's called Tai Sun I think, if you go down the moor and as you go down, down the left hand side look down the little side roads because I'm not sure which one it is but you'll be able to see the shop sign if you look down the road.
Good luck!
While we are on the subject. has anyone been to Wasabisabi?
Is it traditional to eat crabsticks with everything? I know it's supposed to be a good place to eat but ............crabsticks!????

Gaijin (means alien in Japanese),
In Sheffield I would say the Japanese supermarket in Broomhill is the best at the moment. However, if you get the opportunity you might want to take her to China Town in Manchester.

If we were to use the term gaijin in the UK you would be on the national news as a 'race hater'.
We went to Wasabisabi last Saturday - had a brilliant time. We booked into the Tepanaki (don't think i've spelled it right) section and it was fantastic - great food, great atmosphere.
There's a few places opened up on London Rd and I guess you'd be able to get some ingredients from there...?
