I wish.

But what do you mean by an easy life here? Lots of money and doesn't have to work?

I don't think so. I'm totally independent which is exhausting at times.

Even my other friends who are single and live alone have good family back up which I have always sadly lacked. They get shopping bought or mum comes round and cleans or dad sorts out the garden. At work, other people's partners and parents come in and help. In my case, it's been pretty much me, looking out for me since i was 31. (In a relationship you pick up the slack for each other).

My gran does help where she can (she's helped me do washing in the past - and financially on a few occasions and I help her as well).
I've got good friends who've helped out occasionally but there are no magic fairies who do anything for me on a day to day basis.
That's why I appreciate the little things so much like someone making me a cup of coffee at work.

Aw thanks espadrille :)
Actually that post makes me sound really ungrateful. I really do appreciate my friends and gran. I'm going to my best mates for tea on friday and then helping her with her kids.
I've not got it all bad.

Life is what you make it. You have easy times and you have hard times, that's life. It is how you come to terms and deal with things that determines whether you think you have it easy or not.

Yes, and so do most people on here.

Sure, everyone has difficulties once in a while, but the very fact that you have a computer to enter such a post in the first place means you have electricity, and most likely food and clean water.

An easy life indeed compared to millions the world over.

As im struggling to find myself work, I wouldn't say my life is easy moneywise right now, but I have a wonderful family, and wonderful friends, I have clothes on my back and food on the table, and a roof over my head, what more could I want right now?

Apart from the job aspect, my life may not be as easy as it could be, but im happy the way it is.

Absolutely.

Good question, btw. I think life in the western world is generally easy for us, we just don't realise it. Try living in a less developed country, or a country going through severe political conflict or revolution.

Obviously some work harder than others. I don't look for particularly huge challenges or get caught up in chasing huge amounts of wealth, so my life is very laid back, peaceful, still, just how I like it :)

It's all relative. I think I do have an easy life, but do not live ''The Easy Life''.

Agreed.

And I'd expect that everyone of us has an easy life compared to what our parents and grandparents lived through.

My life is and has been a complete toss-off since 2002. The biggest thing I have to worry about these days is what T shirt to wear, and even when I was working for a living the job was stressful... ish... Actually that was a toss-off too becaue we spent most of our night shifts laughing and mucking about, the REAL work comprised of about four hours of driving and collecting cash, the other eight were spent having a larf.

I think I deserve this though because before 2002, my life was utter poo.

I'm going through a difficult phase at the moment and always seem to be busy with things to do, but I appreciate that I have things a lot lot easier than so many people in this world. I'm so grateful for having such a supportive family, partner and friends around and being close to them as well.

Very true but yet there is a thread running on child poverty, some ought to wake up and face reality.

Nothing about life is easy. You may have money, you may have success but those things don't make life easy.

It is something to be endured, not something to be enjoyed, in my opinion.

According to the readers of a certain newspaper, I do.. But they know NOWT! I don't, OK I claim benefits, but I had to fight tooth and nail to get a penny of it!

I think I do.

Yes, a little more money may help but I am healthy, happy in a good relationship, family and friends and most importantly have a beautiful baby son!

I have a roof over my head and so far managing the mortgage payments and I have a job to go back to in January.

I eat well, sleep well, feel well and can afford a sneaky glass of wine and bar of chocolate!

AND IT IS MY BIRTHDAY TODAY AND HAVE LOTS OF LOVELY PRESENTS!

Thats increibly presumptious yes as a nation we are not mal nourish and living in shanty towns but there is a good chance that at least one person on here is suffering domestic or sexual abuse infact I know of two people that fit this category. There is also a good chance that somebody on here is suffering a life threatening illness and other hardships in life. They may be sat on a computer but they are very far from an easy life.

Its all relative anyway. Weather youre a single mum struggling to feed your kids or a millionaire worried about your kids being kidnapped, we ALL find hardships in our lives. The trick is to get it into perspective.

Depends on what you define as easy. I think I do ok, I have a job that pays the bills and sees a roof over my head. I have food on the table and clean water to drink. I have a beautiful partner who I adore with every fibre of my being and loves me in the same way. I have a TV, internet, stereo, games consol, a fridge, a freezer, a washing machine, a cooker and a flushing toilet.

I have to budget my money and I have arthritis, but I am a hell of a lot better off than a lot of people in the world, so yeah, I guess I have it easy.

Of course we all have an easy life, (even you Rich, for once, shut up with the self pitying whine, it's gone beyond boring now).:loopy:
We live in a modern society where our life expecancy is well into the 70's, we have homes, food, and even if for whatever reason we are unable to work, there will always be some support until we are in a position to support ourselves.
The question should perhaps , are you HAPPY with your life as it is, could it be better, easier....?
I think there are aspects of all our lives that we might like to improve. As long as you can go to sleep at night thinking, yeah, its not too shabby, then that cant be bad can it?

Theres nothing wrong with any of our lives. We're all educated, unlikely to have to go to war, don't go to bed hungry, won't die of a preventable disease and are in the main healthy.

I wouldn't say that I have an easy life, but I certainly have a very good one. I am blessed with 2 beautiful, happy and well adjusted children, long suffering Mr S, a very healthy joint income (although god knows where it all goes) and a gorgeous house in one the best post codes in Sheffield. And touch wood, that we're all healthy. I am lucky to have lots of brilliant friends and am making new ones all the time. Life is great, apart from my freeloading in-laws.:rant::rant:

Think yourself lucky you live in a country where you can claim benefits and housing and assistance and care and god knows what else. there are places on earth that if you had been unlucky enough to be born there you would have died long ago
