View Full Version : Will World War 4 Be Fought With Bows And Arrows??

We at school have been discussing whether world war 4 will be fought with bows and arrows; we have a few different opinions!!

A) There will be no world war 4 because in world war 3 some dippy git will blow the world to smithereens and by the time man will have evolved again (if they do) the sun will have eaten the earth or gone nova (blown up and destroyed the planet)

B) But if some dippy git does decide to blow up the earth using nuclear bombs they will have prepared and sent a few million people into a safe place so that when the earth has de-radationised they will be able to repopulate the world

C) But if you send people in to a safe place a) there wont be enough food or water to feed them for however long it takes the world to de-radiationise b) and by the time the world has de-radiationiesed there will be no atmosphere to protect us from the sun meaning we would have to live in this safe place for ever and that will become too small as our population increases meaning we would have to kill people to survive.

What are your ideas??

I don't think there'll be a world war 3.

I think a relatively small number of people would survive, as governments have prepared for this sort of thing, and they aren't going to let their people die of starvation. There must be ways of cultivating crops in underground bunkers. I also imagine that people would only live underground for a matter of decades rather then centuries. After all, Hiroshima is still a populated, thriving city, despite having being destroyed by an atom bomb at the end of WW2. The big question is, what world would the survivors find when they emerged from their bunkers? Would it be worth surviving nuclear war?

The question implies to me that after WW3, if there are ny survivors they will somehow or other have forgotton how make guns/gunpowder/bulletsetc. etc.
I can't see this happening so 'No' I don't think WW4 will be fought with bows and arrows.

That's all very well, but what about WW4? ;)

I don't think WW3 will be nuclear... We've almost started one recently, and at no time has anyone tried to actually use WMD... Russia are no longer a superpower, and China seem more bothered about economic war than physical... The only reason I think we'll have WW3 is if we get a genuinely unhinged leader in America

Hey! Wait a minute... :loopy:

So, really, I think that WW4 might be a bit soon, WW5 may be more appropriate, but it sounds likely!!

Well, if WW3 id MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) then world war 4 won't be fought with bows and arrows.

In fact if we ever have another world war after WW3, then for it to be classed as a 'world' war then it would have to be worldwide. i doubt any war after WW3 would be for a long time (we'd be too busy trying to survive), by the time we get a WW4 we'd be back to fighting with good old guns and tanks, lol.

The usual concept of World War is one fought between governments; they have an interest in survival, so they'll usually provide that someone survives. Also - don't destroy enemy HQ, or they'll have no-one to agree a cease-fire.

Now a nuclear war between religious groups - that's scary, because they believe they'll go to heaven if they die fighting for the Cause. So if defeat threatens, why not blow up the World? (Hitler had a similar view in 1945 - it was the German people's duty to die around him; if they were defeated, they werem't worthy to live)
