View Full Version : Photos... Can we do them?

I recently noticed that the photography group can use their img code from photobucket to post pictures instead of links!

Can we do this? If it's only set up for them can we have it set up?

Here in pets, we regularly have photos to post of new pets, rescues etc. etc. and when people come on with their new pet and want to post lots of photos you end up having to go through loads of clickies which, tbh - puts me off looking and it's such a shame :(

So pretty please... could we have piccies too? :D

Currently running as a trial in photo group...

As DaFoot says, this is currently running as a trial and may not be staying in the photography group, let alone being rolled out to the rest of the groups or the forum as a whole.

As always, there are changes underway on the forum. At the moment there are changes happening which could result in a total change in the way that the groups function (they'd still be here, but operate from our end in a different way). I'm sure that a decision on embedding photos will happen at about that time.

So can we put in a suggestion for it to happen on pets too?

I mean, I wouldn't want to think it would be considered for us when it's only being considered for the photography group so how do we make it known that we'd like to be considered for it aswell?

I'm not sure I'm in favour of this

I'm in favour of people learning how to use the software they already have access to though ;)

at least in the photography group people are selective what they post, whereas here it isn't unusual for people to post every single smudged pic they've taken in a set of their beloved pet

Photo's in threads can make thread reading more difficult and on occasion tedious, especially if coding hasn't been done to prevent pics from posts appearing in quotes of said posts (think how often somebody hits 'quote' on here just post 'awwww, innit cute', and what that'd look like with ten pics in the OP ;) )

Now if people could find the 'slideshow' button on photobucket to post groups of pics here (and I used to edit posts on this group to sort that out before editing rules changed), the current system would work well

If we're going to have photo's postable properly, perhaps a size limit should be imposed as some of those posted on the photography group are a little too large to be viewed properly in a thread

But many of us aren't technically minded or don't have ages to sit at the pc to sort them into little groups and put them in a slideshow.

Sometimes people want to post something quickly and personally I've never sat down and worked out how to use the slideshows on photobucket.

I'd agree with a size restriction though. Another forum I post on (shock horror!) allows pictures but automatically resizes them to a suitable size.

If we had a rule that you have to put 'photo' in your title when posting pictures, people would know they were in for the long haul

when you upload to photobucket, all you do is create a new album for this batch (like is says as a prompt in the upload window) and prodding the slideshow button isn't rocket science

if you can get your pics into the right place on your pc instead of them winding up on your desktop, I can't really see the problem

Is it the people who are impatient about looking at pics who post them in the least userfriendly formats to read too?

I usually post on a forum for the benefit of people reading, so try to take care about how I present what I'm posting, but I suppose there are a heck of a lot of people who post for their own benefit so readability is less of an issue

I have already put this as a suggestion, but it hasn't gone on the board yet.

It says suggestions take up to a week to show and I put it on a few days ago after seeing it in the photography group, I think it would be great so long as the pics are automatically resized, I have seen this on another pet forum and I think the pics look really good...the pic threads are the most popular too..oh well we will see :D

I think it would be great so long as the pics are automatically resized, I agree - along with some code to prevent them appearing in quotes though!
