I am looking at creating a website - but, as always, .com and .co.uk have already been taken, so I am thinking about using .org.
What are the politcal concerns I should be aware of I was was to use .org. Take for instance the company Fords and I had a web url of www.fords.org.
Basically, would I get in trouble????

.org domains are intended to be used for non-profit organisations. However, there is no real policing of domain name usage (I think there is more at the .uk level than there used to be, but still not a lot) so you shouldn't get in trouble using a .org for any purpose. However, it might confuse some of your potential customers (assuming you are looking at this for commercial purposes).
My own website is www.sumption.org - I sat here dreaming about registering sumption.com for years, before a distant relative snapped it up and I realised I'd better grab the .org quickly before that went too. Not a problem, as it's a personal website (when they introduced the explicitly personal .me.uk domains - which do have somewhat stricter but still fixable criteria for application - my dad grabbed www.sumption.me.uk) but even in this day an age a .com site is more memorable for most people, and most have little appreciation of the original distinction between .com, .org and .net

There's also the added confusion of there also being an "org.uk".
