I'm being eaten alive! help!
I'm using Frontline on my cat but the fleas are jumping onto me for their feast. I'm hoovering the carpets, bedding etc and spraying with household insecticide, but I'm still getting bites all over my ankles and lower legs. I just don't know what to do next. :(

I really feel for you. I ended up with a houseful of fleas after a furry guest left the premises ... it took me about six weeks start to finish to exterminate them! :help:
I ended up, after spending a small fortune on powder and spray, using a flea bomb in each room. Very effective I have to say and I captured the last few stragglers by using insect traps cut into strips all around the skirting boards in the main room affected.
Although I've still got the bite marks on my feet and ankles a couple of months down the line and I'm paranoid now if I have the slightest little itch :o

Flea bomb? Where can I get those from? And can I get flea spray for me too? LOL! I think they're jumping on me when my cat weaves in & out of my legs. I'm trying to keep out of her way but she follows me! It looks as though I've got lurgy or something and they itch like hell! My son hasn't got one single bite but the cat hasn't been near him lately.

Know this is a terrible problem for some especially at this time of year and it was for us before the cat sadly passed, only have one dog now but if we don't keep on top she gets them again, from passing cats.
I strongly suggest a quick visit to vet....FRONTLINE COMBO! It is excellent, kills flea's and eggs in one, it is a hell of a lot more effective than shop bought stuff. Just part the fur on scruff so skin exposed and squirt the stuff on....a little difficult with cat's but they don't freak at this like they do spray's.
Needs doing every eight weeks, but you get six months supply. £48 we paid, worth every penny.
Flea bomb yes if the room infest is really bad, but you have to make sure door is closed and anything edible is removed from room, also any pet fish birds etc.
House wise? Carpets bad, they breed in carpet's.....so laminate is deffo better, luckily we had to rip all carpets out for major building work, so I laminated every room after.
Just thought too, a few cups of hot water left on floor.....catches and drowns em, not safe with kids but they love to jump in your Tea and do the backstroke! I got that fed up of having to chuck my tea away.
Flea bites, bread soaked in milk...it really does work takes the itch away:hihi:
Hope this helps!
The combination of these two, should get rid.

Thanks puddinburner. I've already got some Frontline from the vets. Before my little dog died last year I used to get Frontline for him and never bothered with the cat. We had the dog for 15 years and we've had the cat 12 years. Up to now we've never had flea problems as bad as this.
I wonder if the Frontline I've got is a bad batch or something. Think I might have to have another trip to the vets.
Thanks for the tip about the bread & milk - will try it when I get home!

How long have you been using the frontline for the cat? it does sound though that perhaps you have such an heavy infestation that the house needs spraying, personally I don't think that you can beat the household stuff from the vets, its a bit expensive but it does the trick absolutely and usually there is enough to do the house twice.

Flea bomb? Where can I get those from?I got mine from the petshop on Woodseats but I suppose you can get them from any petshop, they're about £4, or you can get them online.
The glue traps are fantastic though but you catch a lot of other things too, which you may not even know live in your house! :o
Best of luck with it!

There are two different types of Frontline, one for dogs, one for cats, two different types of flea at a guess, cat flea, Dog flea and you must never use the dog one on a cat.
Be careful babe, you don't want puss keeling over.
Good luck!!!

Thanks everybody, I think I will go back to the vets for help as neither the Frontline nor the household spray is working.
Oh no I'd never use the dog flea stuff on the cat, usually a flea collar from wilko has been fine for Fleaby (real name Phoebe, but I've re-named her now!)
