View Full Version : How did your pets get you up this morning?
skinnydog 30-09-2008, 10:03 Every morning around 7am my Dogue De Bordeaux bitch puppy, 8 months old decides I ought to get up.
This usually involves Mary trashing whatever newspaper or magazine I have next to bed, trashing my slippers and snorting like a baby elephant whilst doing it. Then she goes in the other bedroom and rustles up my Vizsla, who grumps at her and tells her to bugger off.
Then one or two of the cats will come up and jump on the bed purring.
Then I get up to save further damage.
I did try putting a well chewed roastie bone under the bed to distract her but it was a bit stinky, non dog owners will be spinning in their duvets!!
what fun but I would not be without them.
Jabberwocky 30-09-2008, 10:07 At 4 every morning my idiot cat wakes me by sitting on the bed and yowling loudly until I let him out, He used to do it at three every morning but he must be getting slower in his old age.
Then, an hour or so later he sits outside the window yowling loudly to be let back in again.
Plain Talker 30-09-2008, 10:28 Trixie does a very high pitched set of yips, letting me know she needs to be let out onto the garden for a tiddle.
usually about half past five-ish ( :gag: death o'clock! )
Mine didn't...
The dogs have become lazy little sods and the cat is finally learning that she gets swiped across the room if she lays on my head (which used to be her favourite sleeping position!)
None of my lot get me up in the morning. The cats are all in their own room and Molly sleeps in the bedroom, but unless she is absolutely desperate for the loo she lies calmly in the bedroom until I wake up (then I get the wet bit of her nose in the palm of my hand and a wash when she realises I'm waking up.
Getting them all separated up and in their own bedrooms at night is the hard part, but with 12 cats round here at the moment it has to be done.
Moonbird 30-09-2008, 10:35 Usually my lot are extremely good at night and in the morning and sleep until I show signs of waking, although it would probably be a different story if the pups were not confined in a crate overnight :D
The only time that I am woken up is by Durham (actually this is getting more regular...another thread me thinks) the time varies but he sometimes wakes me as he needs to go out, all I can hear is a big dog trotting up and down to the door, poor lad, so I get up let the lot out and then we go back to bed :D
Takara used to wake me up barking when she was crated, when we first took the crate down (no space) she did start scratching at the kitchen door to wake me up but she's stopped all that now and stays in bed til I get up :D
Ours wake the neighbour barking, who then comes round and knocks on the door to get us out of bed.
jennycakes 30-09-2008, 12:44 mine keep me awake all through the night:rolleyes:
Ha, no chance. I have to physically shift Oz and peel him off the sheets so I can get past him and up in the morning, then he returns to the usual position and doesn't stir, even until I leave the house. Sometimes I get a dirty look from a floppy dog for moving him, and sometimes he decides he wants to come with me for the day so gets up and follows me around! He never wakes me up though, he will stay in bed all day if given the chance. Lazy little sod
(I'm not neglecting his possible need for the toilet or a walk btw. He gets up with OH about an hour after I leave).
goldenbabe1966 30-09-2008, 18:35 My 15 month old staffy, waits until i get up (he sleeps in the kitchen)once i am up , i open the safey gate he walks straight past me( without a nod or a wink ) and sits and cries at the conservatory doors, until muggins (me)opens them, then he jumps on his fav chair and falls asleep again (what a life )
Just like to add i am sat at the pc with him on my knee (as i said what a life ):hihi:
EdnaKrabappe 30-09-2008, 18:49 My cat Ted seems to like to come and lay right next to my head and unless I firmly grab her and wedge her in the duvet a la straight jacket stylee, will lay there pawing at my face, catching it with her claws until I wake up. I'm sure all this is affectionate but it hurts!!!
Basil meanwhile stands on me and shouts, not miaows, shouts!!! But she's lazier than I am usually so it's normally me waking her up.
I've developed a sixth sense to the slightest movement in the dead of night. I can sense Zachary moving toward the bathroom (where he intends to pee on the puppy training mat I put down); it's usually about 1:30am and it just hasn't occurred to him (yet) to actually bark or come see me or actually let me know in any way.
Dumb pooch!
Around 2am, Arnie the baby wegie cat bounced onto my chest and drooled all over my face, purring loudly and pawing at me to get up - because for some unexplained reason, he seems to think I should get up in the middle of the night- no wonder I've been having trouble sleeping with the norwegian nutcase stirring my slumber... and once he starts, his mum Ashia and even dafter dad Charlie both jump onto the bed purring and mewing too.
Meanwhile, the daft dobermutt grumbles and sighs in her sleep and occasionally breaks wind. I'd like to sleep surrounded by the aroma of lavender and ylang ylang but whiffy doberman is about as good as it gets...
If i am not out of bed my 2 cats get me up by dive bombing from badly placed wardrobe or the chair next to the bed!! Badger will bark and Mojo joins and thats if we arn't up in time for them.
moetchampers 30-09-2008, 19:20 Both my dogs sleep downstairs and as soon at 9am appears they sit at the front door..if i ignore them to lie in they invade the bedroom and then sit crying in my ear till i get up:|

This sounds just like my Georgie. He wakes me up at about quarter to 7 every morning without fail by jumping on my tummy and cuddling up to me. Then he lies on my chest with his nose about 3mm from mine and purrs really loudly. If that doesn't have the desired effect of waking me up enough to stroke him, he starts to use his paw on my cheek and mouth, really hurts when he forgets himself and uses his claws!! As soon as my alarm goes off at 7am he jumps off the bed and sits there crying really loudly.
Bugs me to death when he does it, but if he ever misses his routine I wake up feeling all neglected!! :P
Milo starts his routine as soon as the sun starts to show... and yes, in the summer it was about 3.30 - unreal!!! He starts tap tapping round the bedroom - wooden floors, maybe a scratch or two at the door. I have to chase him back to bed. He has to sleep in the room with us or he thinks the high ceiling in the hall has great accoustics for his call to play!!! I have never heard a cat yell so loud!
Then about 5.30 he'll scramble under the bed and snore - right by my head!!! At some point he'll end up in bed next to me, if I am lucky I get the head end, if not I get the bum!!!
Only once has my failsafe alarm clock let me down. LOL
Trout, sleeps all night under the covers. But is a very good alarm clock. Im never allowed to sleep after 6:30, when my real alarm should go off. She has stopped me from overlaying loads of times. But its not good at the weekends
sheff290 09-10-2008, 00:46 i have a house full of bordeaux at night with the snoring it sounds like a old mans rest home
