By nice I mean a pleasant, safe place to live. Not too bothered about local amenities etc. We're looking to rent, not buy, so it's not that much of a commitment. Just want to live in a nice place that's close to work for both of us (city centre and J29).

Any suggestions of nice places or places to definately avoid?

Thanks.

in our experience we have found that Barlborough (J30), Stavely (J30) and Anston/Dinnington (J31)are nice places, the first though is quiet dear to rent in whereas the latter arent too bad. All the places have excellent links to motorway and various ways of getting to Sheffield as we have commuted for many years from both Barlborough and Anston when we lived there.

Aston seems nice which is the sheffield side of J31, along with Beighton which are both situated on the A37.

Don't really know of any bad places aound the motorway, just remember to take a 6 month lease then you can leave if you really don't like a place.

Good luck and hope this helps.

I'd recommend the new (ish) development Balmoral Grange by Bellway... it's just off the Manor Top (which has a dreadful reputation I know - but the area is changing quickly!).... handy for the M1... just 10 mins down the parkway, and 10 mins on to the city centre.

Good luck !

I live in Dinnington.
At the end of our road, these views are what you get.

I took these yesterday while walking the dog.

As an Ex mining community, there is still community spirit, local shops, Butchers etc.
It takes me 1hr 15 mins in a morning to:
Drive and park at Meadowhall, catch the tram to the university.

There's always Rensihaw just off J30. There's usually a flat or 2 to rent there. Contains one or 2 nice pubs: it takes 15 min to Chesterfield, 15-20 min to town, 15 min to Meadowhall. Lots ofnice countryside around as well and a lot cheaper than Barborough.

Anywhere near Crystal Peaks should fit the bill. If I mention Woodhouse, loads of people who remember it's old reputation will have a lot to say, so I won't

Woodhouse has a train station that get's you into town in 10mins - the quickest way it can be done from these parts
