I have a plot at Heeley/Meersbrook and I'm looking to build compost bins the old-fashioned way from scratch. So, does anyone either have any suitable scrap wood they want taking off their hands, or know where I can get some?

If I end up with tons of it I might offer to build some for others if there is an interest.

We have a small decking area we'll be breaking up in the near future (when we get the time!) if the wood isn't too damaged you'll be welcome to it. Good luck in your quest!

I'm at Heeley/District too. Pallets are good. Free from skips. You may need to line the insides with some wood to block the holes but they are easy to construct as you just nail the corners together. Be careful with wood that may have been preserved. Some arsenic-based preservatives are not the sort of thing you might want to come into contact with compost that will enter your food chain. Decking may well come into this category. I've always found plenty of wood in skips in Heeley...

A bit of skip diving coming on then.

I've got some planks i used for fencing - some are a bit tatty . Come and get them asap before i burn them tomorrow.
