Yes, my flat was leasehold. Basically even though you own the flat, you still have to follow the rules of the lease i.e. no pets, no commercial vehicles on or near complex, no washing on balcony, no noise between 11pm and 8am.....just things like that really.

A management company usually acts on behalf of the landlord of the complex, they are responsible for the upkeep of communal areas and so on. I found the management company useless and very slow at getting back to me about things.

I personally wouldn't buy a leashold property again. It didn't feel like I owned the flat it felt like i was renting it!
