And being very rubbish.
The whole DeLorean story is a fascinating one though.
Skatiechik 12-05-2005, 15:04 The car that locked you in :D
Call me sad, but my obsession with Busted (their Year 3000 song) and McFly, and of course liking the B2TF films really makes me hope that I see this car! How cool. :hihi:
LordChaverly 12-05-2005, 15:09 De Lorean died earlier this year. His car though appears to be alive, well and living in Sheffield. I didn't know we had garages with doors that wide.
carcrash 12-05-2005, 16:21 There was a really good documentry on BBC 3 a few months ago about the whole saga
npatchett 12-05-2005, 16:27 There is quite often a DeLorean parked on Smith Street in Chapeltown. It belongs to the guy who owns One Stop PC Shop.
It looks fantastic and the number plate has 'What the Flux' on it :hihi: makes me chuckle every time.
dam,i wanted to tell every one that :D
yep its the bloke in the computer shop,i asked the other week who owned it ,
i wonder what they are like for spares ?
JJ..
Saw it at the roundabout in Chapletown last friday evening. Not as impressive in real life as on the big screen!
i was lucky enough to drive a delorean when i was younger, just round the block a couple of times in the countryside. i've been fascinated since.
Aaarrrggghhh 13-05-2005, 01:27 Looks like an allegro escpet for lifty up doors.
Check out Gumball 3000 on DVD for some real creamy motors and their (ooh) drivers

The Delorean body was made completely of stainless steel, and in general was not painted. I saw one for sale recently in a small Connecticut town not far from my home for $6000. It has a quite small GT type body not unlike the old VW Sirrocco, and was produced in small quantities around the late 70s
There's one next door to my aunty and uncle on Holdings Road, Norfolk Park. My bloke's fascinated too!
Do you mean this one.....look here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v390/hjdary/42BE0342.jpg)
I saw it a year or so ago up in the Norfolk Park area and had to take a photo. Its not very good though as it was took on a VGA Camera phone.
It looks fantastic.

Thats the one I was on about:clap:
I've seen it in High Green at the junction with The Acorn pub.
DeLorean's have a fiberglass body tub to which the stainless steel panels are bolted and a mild steel chassis which has an resin coating to protect against rust. They are powered by a Peugeot/Renault/Volvo 2.85ltr V6 engine that produces 130bhp with either a three-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission. Grey and black leather trim was the only interior options offered on the regular production cars. In 1983 the problems finally became too much and the factory closed down.. After the closure of the factory in Dunmurray, near Belfast, the remaining parts and partially completed cars were sold at auction for whatever they would fetch. & no they don't look like a Austin Allegro.

I have to agree with Saxon further down on this thread and I can confirm that if you travel up Granville Road towards City Road, there are 3 side roads that are on your left that go up to St Aidens Road at the top and there is a silver De Lorean living up there.
I cannot remember which side road it is on, possibly the top one but cannot be certain.
It is on a W reg and looks in fairly good nick.
Good Hunting.

Sorry mate,
But it does ask for people to do it when you have a car like that.

it's alright, I'm only joking! Just was having fun last night, sister and I were on a sort of natural high and giddy mood! It's not really my car just wanted to see the response I got! Not quite as funny as I thought eh? :hihi:
fnkysknky 15-05-2005, 08:12 Bloody awful car anyway :)
Bloody awful car anyway :)
haha too true! too true!
Carborundum 15-05-2005, 09:27 Call me stupid if you will (and I'm not anti Sheffield) but a whole City getting obsessed because one individual driving round in a half decent sports car seems to show just how very far Sheffield still has to go up the ladder in terms of prosperity and affluence if you ask me !
Would you see this thread on a London or Manchester or Leeds forum ? I think not ...
Skatiechik 15-05-2005, 09:42 Since when was the Delorean a 'Sports' Car? It is not exactly built for speed.

Since when was the DeLorean considered to be 'half decent'?!? ;-)
I still want one though... And I think it would be mentioned in any other cities forum as everybody loves Back To The Future!
Ok, so it may be a little sad that there has been so much attention but I think the same would happen on another forum, put it this way, I go to hospital in London and used to go to hospital in Leeds and have never once seen a DeLorean there! I did once see someone driving around in a sofa though!
Yes, I have to tell you this, I was in London and this sofa with a steering wheel on wheels and a lamp next to it went driving down the road! I could nay believe it!!!!!
Just wanted to share that with you!

Well it is over 3 pages long so yes you might be right!!!
I think it is more to do with the rareity of the car. I think a similar thread would arise if there was a Ferrari Enzo in the city, or an Aston Martin Shooting Brake (thats the AM estate) - very very rare.
Lighten up.

saw it on parked on Salt Box Lane, Grenoside last week. Don't think it had broken down.
I've seen one around sheffield, Outside a house which had an AMC Pacer
Hi,
Yes the car in question belongs in Sheffield in the Norfolk Park area and is driven on a daily basis!
Regards

I'd hate to have that guys insurance :wow:
Parked opposite Shell garage at Wentworth Business park tonight with passenger door lifted up. Certainly got some looks.
Finally, finally finally! I saw the Delorean drive past the Acorn pub at Burncross yesterday!
That guy must hum the Back to the Future theme tune while he's driving, and I reckon at least once a week he pushes it up to 88mph... :D
Saw it driving up Halifax Road a few weeks ago
That car must be almost as famous as the one in the films by now :hihi:
Grandad.Malky 19-06-2006, 13:24 A DeLorean is the car from back To the Future. It is famous for also been made very cheap
The car is made out of stainless steel, no paint jobs, just brushed/polished stainless panels I wouldn’t have thought they were cheap.
I thing the production cars were made in Island before the company went bust.
One parks regularly on the side street next to the computer shop in chapletowm.

Apparently, hand marks are a nightmare to clean off and look awful on the brushed steel body.
I would'nt say the DeLorean was cheap just poorly designed. The alternator was too weak to keep the battery topped up so sooner or later the battery would go flat, however the central locking system and electric windows would then not work so if you were inside the car at the time you were trapped!!!! :o
There is also a skip that drives arround London
My mums never been to London
De'Loreans are great fun, especiall when you end up parked in between two other cars and cannot get out, lol.
It's a shame the owner ain't modded his car and made it look like the BTTF one.

The hand marks are the same problem you get with stainless kitchen appliances, I worked in a stainless works until the powers that be closed us down.
NEKRO138 19-06-2006, 15:01 I see one in Chapeltown all the time. My dad used to make the tool kits for them when he worked at Stanley tools.

My Great, Great, Great Grandmother saw him in it parked up outside Cole Brothers market stall in the spring of 1885.
(if you'd have taken the time to search the Forum archive you'd know this already. It's down under thread #2)
"Butt-head.."
;-)
They are cool. But i'd never want to own one. I think they are OK for spares because aprt form the god awful steel body the rest was bits of other cars.
If you get a chance you ahve to read the delorian story. In some respects the car was simple a cover for other stuff going on. Fraud, IRA involvment, drug smuggling (lots of cocaine apparently) Its well worth googling.
They didn't come with a flux capacitor a standard though and they are really hard to source if yours breaks.
The guy who owns it works or is part owner of the non-stop pc shop in Chapeltown
is marty mcfly still driving that old thing about!?
SallyLaLaLa 19-06-2006, 19:30 Seen it in Hillsborough.
Apparently, hand marks are a nightmare to clean off and look awful on the brushed steel body.
Bizarrely the solution to the handmarks is the same one used with stainless steel kitchen appliances- give it a good wash and dry, then wipe over with a cloth with a tiny touch of baby oil on.
Conjures up very strange mental pictures of someone baby oiling their car.
I saw the car in question last night as i was walking my dog in Burncross.
And being very rubbish.
The whole DeLorean story is a fascinating one though.
Indeed.
Read more about the man (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_De_Lorean), his company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Lorean_Motor_Company), and the famous car (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Lorean_DMC-12).
pitsmoorlad 21-06-2006, 13:16 I saw the DeLorean back in 1964 when I was 13, the driver got out and told me he'd come back in time to get some things sorted. As he left he said he'd call back to see me in 2008, I'm getting pretty excited cos he said he'd bring me all the winning lottery numbers from 2009, then he promised to go to 1966 and make sure that we won the World Cup, and he did !
segasonic 07-07-2006, 19:40 Great scott! Just saw one at Law Bros garage, got quite a loud engine in em!
Imagine my dismay when it pulled away without a VW camper full of Libyans giving chase, before disappearing in a flash, leaving two trails of fire and a spinning number plate.
Beautiful car though.
fred_notdead 07-07-2006, 19:49 i've seen it parked on smith street at chapeltown
It's there on a regular basis
Just seen it turn the corner at the lights on Attercliffe Road/Newhall Road.
Reg OWV-something: not OUTATIME then :(

Saw it/one yesterday on the way to the tip.
'twas on Hollowgate/Greengate Lane.
stackmonkey 29-09-2006, 16:10 Still at least it will never get a ticket for doing more than 88mph :hihi:
I accidentally caught a picture of a DeLorean when grabbing a quick snap of the State Capitol here in Austin. The sad part is that it really made my day. :(
