My Friend lives on Slate Street at Heeley and said there was a drive by shooting on there last night at about 10.30pm. Apparently some poor young couple had their front room window shot through. It was aimed at the house next to them.

If the report is accurate, there is still no need, at all, for anyone to worry ! Far from it ! Not long to go, before someone from the Ostrich Information Service informs us, yet again, that Sheffield is one of the safest places in the universe-----well, at least, not as bad as Nottingham or Mexico City.

These shootings are not random attacks. Well, O.K., the gunmen do sometimes make mistakes and innocent people are inconvenienced, but if you keep crouching down as you watch the telly at night, it's not very likely that a stray bullet will even wing you, is it ? So, stop moaning.

Similarly, if you are walking along the street and you hear a loud bang, just duck and run quickly to safety. These are just sensible precautions that we've always taken. Life in the U.K. is getting better and better, and safer and safer. After all, we ARE a welcoming city !

So, have a nice day and mind how you go. If you DO see any illegal smoking, parking or speeding vehicles, don't forge to ring the authorities immediately. You know it all makes sense !
