Hi
i have more turtles arriving this weekend, im pushed for space so was in the process of digging a much larger/deeper pond for my 4 rehomed turtles, but just had a message i have 2 more on the way...

i need help this weekend and into next week, so i can lay the liner etc ready for next weekend, as the turtles will need to hibernate at the bottom over winter from late oct.

i need anyone who can physically, help dig the pond, men, women dogs (has anyone got a mini digger or know anyone who has?)

Im need to make the pond big, 13' in lenth, 6' width but 4' deep!! so i need all the help i can get starting tomorrow! (hey good weather)
tea/coffee bics on stanby, im just off bellhouse road at firth park...

can anyone help, little groups to take it in turns!! (ah i only have 3 spades, so might need some more!!)

thanks!!

Hmmm, it's a bit late in the day to be ringing companies blagging assistance too isn't it, if you need it for this weekend :(

if your garden is as clay and masonry as ours then a breaker may be useful
Maybe start a thread asking if any of the tradesmen or landscapers here can help you out on that front?

its clay from a couple of foot down..i found that out the hard way with the pond i have now for the turtles...i had been turning them down, due to a lack of a larger pond at the moment, but these 2 are the last chance they have at life...I have a small 2nd emergancy pond/quaranteen pond they can go in for the week, but not overwinter (water will freeze as its too shallow and no deep soil etc to bury in)...

im having another unwanted Iguana brought to me in a hour...so thats a total of 15 or so animals in the last couple of months (reptile shed is taking longer than i thought, due to me just doing it, i feel cheeky asking for help, but with the turtle pond its desperate)

Magsie has been great in the past, but i feel cheeky asking for help, and bits of freecycle like old fishtanks/wood/garden stuff etc.

My girlfriend is the ferret person, rehoming from jedi etc. me im the reptile fan!

Ah, is there anyone out there can help Jules. He's brilliant and an animal rescuer like no other. His postman brought him a turtle found in a garden on his round. Please help if you can. Jules and Lorna are great, and Arthur his rescued dog is superb xx

there fine, didnt you see the link i sent you? in there new home doing well.

i got lucky earlier, the morning we have to collect a shed for Lorna's rescued ferrets and just this minute had another Iguana brought to us.

Im hoping now as Stix says, it would be soooo much easier if on Mon some tradesman etc could help...but if hes free tomorrow, he could give me a hand with the greenhouse frame to pop up and some other bits...if you drive, you can drop him off, so us men can have a beer while working!

Well were desperate for help, now its spring i need to get the pond completed, so the 10 turtles can go out in the 1st week of Apr, i have ordered the pond liner, but have been let down with a mini digger, we cant do a 15'x6x4.5 pond by hand....and will need some time to complete it, so its pretty urgent!

Also we need some help repairing a donated shed, putting up a greenhouse frame, getting the edges ready for new secure fencing (as last year we had 2 lots of vandalism and theft)

Cutting back bushes and dead tree's, other odd jobs.

i have designed the pond/greenhouses/rep sheds on paper, but just impossible to do by myself or with a couple of friends, and like last year it never got completed as we were let down, yes had more animals come in over winter.

Im hoping to use the type of metal fencing you see around building sites, but fixed into the ground...its a much cheaper way than using wooden panels etc. IF anyone knows anyone who has any, or could donate some that would cut costs futher...

Hope some people can help, were at Firth Park!
cheers
