now this may sound odd but it actually isnt

I have two copys of Windows one is XP home which the CD verification has been nicked by some scally

and also windows XP Prof which is original
both of which have the COA sticker

now a mate of mine passed me a disk as my system has been downed
am running a AMD64+3400

it was windows XP 64bit edition just to sample so he said it has a 30 day trial on it

so off I set to install comes up blue screen and says windows XP Pro install

so its a 30day trial why is it asking me for my product key

has he passed me a fully working copy that does need a serial and if so where am I going to get it from
cant really phone microsoft and ask them ohh by the way my mates given me this CD for windows and didnt give me a serial number

all I want is to know if it is worth all the hassle of forking out for it and if it does run faster

does anyone have a code for the 30 day trial or the full version so I can actually check if its any good

I have looked around and all codes dont work

i can always download the 30 day trial but microsoft took it off there site on 23rd march
anyone know where I can get a link to download it legally

can I actually put my Pro key in since all it is
is a windows XP pro on a 64bit platform

Thanks
Phil

What's the point of installing 64-bit XP at the moment?

I doubt there are many programs and utilities that have been made for the 64-bit version yet anyway :?

I suppose you could try installing it and if it didn't work just fdisk and re-install the standard version with your original producy key.

a code for the full version so you can just try it??? ha ha.

urm its unfortunate that this has happen, as for 64 bit i agree with vidster.

there are sites etc from which u might get a key but windows update might not like you. no more help than that im afraid

You'd also require 64bit drivers, and there aren't many running the streets ...

If you're only gonna use Win 64b with 32b drivers and 32b apps... Don't go the way of the DarkSide, use Win 32b (2000 not XP)
