View Full Version : Which band do you wish you could crush in your hands?
Ousetunes 12-05-2005, 09:33 Which band, or if you prefer 'rock star' do you wish you could gather up in your hands, screw up and crush into a tight little ball (with gritted teeth, naturally) and get rid of? You could throw it into a bin, lob it in the river or boot it out of sight with your size elevens. You could stamp on it or toss it in an open fire and watch it slowly cook.
First on my list would be The Corrs.
Gosh, I could relieve myself of a lot of stress in one fell swoop. Sales of Doc Martins might go through the roof, along with my little ball that was once that prefabricated plastic called The Corrs.
Bon Jovi.
I loathe Jon Bon Jovi! And now he thinks he's an actor! I have bypassed movies just because HE'S IN THEM! I'm probably the only female in North America under 50 who doesn't find the guy attractive. The first time I heard that song, 'livin' on a prayer", I thought, gee. I must be getting old, because that's awful!

BrainThrust 12-05-2005, 12:06 Keane
Ridiculously bland!
I reckon if they played 4 minutes if dead air and said it was by Keane then all the bandwagoners would end up saying 'ooh, its beautiful in its simplicity'
i think i'd prefer 4 minutes of dead air though

Cutglass 12-05-2005, 12:10 It's gotta be Madonna for me, I can't stand the sight or sound of her. I hate her music, her acting is atrocious and I refuse to even stay on the dance floor if any of her warblings come on.
Has to be McFly, I hate all those cheesy crap boy bands with washboard stomachs, blonde quiffs and ZERO actual talent..
My mate thinks I'm a Westlife fan just cos last year I bought their cover version of Barry Manilow's "Mandy"!! WTF?!
G4 - They irritate me no end with their silly opera style singing of pop songs and the lead singer always pulls a face like he is trying to stop the turtle head from popping out!!! :gag:
RockKat79 12-05-2005, 14:07 Oasis - sorry, i think they are overated, they get on my nerves and the majority of people I know or who I have worked with at some point are obsessed with them... and they think that my taste in music is crap!
Catatonia, she's got such an annoying voice. Not a band but I would like to see Andrew Lloyd Webber hanged.
LesMcQueen 12-05-2005, 14:54 The fat tap dancer from Stoke gets my vote.
His biggest talent is in hiding the fact that he has none.
jackthedog 12-05-2005, 14:56 U2

So could I - those three sisters are pretty fit, aren't they? ;)
Blue - too smug and self-satisfied, Robbie Williams - same reasons, Franz Ferdinand - sounds like people rowing disguised as music, and how has nobody mentioned Cliff Richard yet? :gag: :gag: :gag:

R Kelly...for crimes against music
Billy Ray Cirus...for crimes against hairstyles
Franz Ferdinand...for being the most overrated band on earth
5 Star....for just being sooo ridiculous it hurts
How about crushing Charlotte Church with Rick Waller! Now that would be a good paparazzi photo for page 3. Perhaps i'd include Michael " EE - HA " Jackson being crushed by Ronnie Cray. Don't pick the soap up in the showers Michael!
busted.....oh wait i aleady did
oasis, stone roses, all boy bands, morrisey, happy mondays, actually pretty much any band from manchester lol. hated that `scene' of whiney indie music.
each to their own :)

And R Kelly. He makes my ears bleed.
Swan_Vesta 13-05-2005, 12:59 Justin Timberlake - I would enjoy crumpling his wretched little head between my forefinger and thumb and wiping the residue on the back street boys foreheads.
Aqua - Nothing would please me more than birching the pop morons for infesting the airwaves with "come on Barbie"
Sophie Ellis Bextor - Not solely for her stupid, inane banal music but also becasue her face offends me.
S-Club7 (and all their hellish spinoff minions) - Need I explain?
Lars Ulrich of Metallica fame - Good drummer, annoying git.
Sean - pdiddy, puffdaddy- Coombes - The musical form of syphillis: ****ing irritating and never goes away.
Bono (and maybe U2, depends how bad a mood I'm in) - Bandwagon jumping, whining, annoying, trendy cause supporting, crap music making, b*****ks spouting prat.
New Kids On The Block - AARRRGH! You are the worst offenders of all!!!! I curse your parents for conceiving you and carrying you filthy little antichrists to term.
Take That.. I mean just WTF are these people?! NONE of them, save possibly Robbie Williams had ANY talent, they were just another crap boy band in a sea of talentless wannabes back in the early to mid 1990s.
Oh sod it, WTF am I kidding?! Robbie Williams is the KING of chavs!

Swan_Vesta 13-05-2005, 13:23 And Jennifer Lopez - I hate her diva like attitude, her shrieking "music" and the pathetic media circus that seems to document her every move for the mindless souls who let heat magazine pass before their eyes each week.
All in all, she's a borderline boiler with a fat a**e and an overinflated ego. Never mind Jenny from the block, I'd like to see Jenny on the block ......... right before the axe descends.

That's more like it! Come on, vent your spleen.
Nice one, Swan_Vesta:thumbsup:
Swan_Vesta 13-05-2005, 13:52 Thanks Ousetunes. Another target would have to be Tatu, I assure you there is no anti-gay/lesbian sentiment here at all.
They make a couple of dodgy songs that were complete crap by even the most slack standard and then have sucess solely on the basis of: "We're a couple of Russian teenage girls (in school uniform if I remember) and we profess to be rampantly gagging for each other". That's it - no talent, no flair. We just say we fancy each other and rattle out third rate crap. Musical quality: zero. Sale: Astronomic.
Middleaged men, teenage boys and teeny boppers are responsible for the popularity of the most annoying, blatantly transparent act in the history of UK music. They weren't gay! They won't be doing all the smutty things you were thinking about, just counting out the money you paid to further their predictable little scheme!
I can't even remember how their song went ........ I just remember it irritating me. Can I have a new spleen please?

Yes, hats off to you Craigy! All those (c)rap 'artists', all they do is 'er', 'yo' and 'ugh'. Blue - LMAO, they're so plastic I expect them to warp in the sunshine.
McFly - are they an attempt to make thingers with a lithp fathionable? Mariah I-can-fit-every-note-of-the-scale-into-every-word Carey wants putting out of her misery. Whitney Houston and that mind-numbing rape of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You. Man, that songs makes me want to die.
Right, I'm going before I lose it...,
dylan_61 14-05-2005, 09:24 ROBBIE WILLIAMS
Any piece of music that no talent fool has ever got his hands on.
Does anyone remember the Music of the Millennium on Channel 4 where 'The Public' voted for the most influential people in music over the last Millennium.
Robbie (I'm held in high regard by the musically ignorant) Williams was voted as having more influence on music over the past 1,000 years that Mozart, Bach and Beethoven. Beethoven's 3rd Symphony re wrote the form of music. What do these people think Robbie Williams has done to top that. "Come and have a go if you think you are hard enough, Millennium" "I'm loving angels instead"
Ousetunes 14-05-2005, 09:34 The fact that Mr Williams is held in such high regard speaks more for the people who listen to his music than it does for him. If that's what excites them, so be it.
But I agree totally that when it comes to serious music, then the likes of Beethoven, Bach, Handel and (my favourite) Mozart will NEVER be beaten.
Angels, best song of the last 25 years? Give over! Give me Mozart's 40th Symphony, Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite or Dvorak's Symphony Number 9 and I'm in heaven.
Then there's Gershwin, Tchaikovsky and Elgar.
Let Me Entertain You.
No:rant:
thanks for the letting me know im not alone with that thought Ousetune. I dont understand u ppl who can listen to galaxy and not feel like turning it off after 3-4 mins of that tripe.
What happend to all the decent bands and why dont they even make the charts anymore? I mean half the music genres dont even make the charts now. When was the last time u heard some nice mood lifting ska on the radio? i was talking to some people who call them selfs music fanatics but they dont know anything apart from what the radio tells them to like. :loopy:
Just been looking at my itunes playlist and half the bands arnt known in the UK because we wont give them the chance.
Ousetunes 14-05-2005, 09:47 Special Brew by Bad Manners - a song that you simply can't help smiling to.
I agree, let's chill with some great ska music. I also loved Do Nothing by the Specials and let's throw in some Madness.
I feel cheery just thinking about some of these songs (and in Madness' case, videos).
Top of the list would be Blazin Squad!!
Then:
Busted
McFly
Westlife
Blue
Justin Timberlake
msbehavin 16-05-2005, 10:02 Not sure if you'd class him as a 'band' cos the rest of the members didn't bother me too much but THAT 'H' GUY FROM STEPS has to take the biscuit as being the most annoying, irritating, pathetic, idiotic little excuse for a 'pop star' (or a man) as I have ever seen. Am quite a reasonable individual and generally extend the warmth of human friendship to my fellow humans, but I find myself physically shuddering whenever I have the misfortune to see this guy on tv. Thank goodness he no longer gets the coverage he used to now that Steps are no longer (thanks be and praise di lord!)
Euuugggghhhhhhh :gag:
