8) Nah Den Ace.......

Does anybody live on Hyde Park Flats? Could you tell me what the soundproofing is like?

What it is, at the moment I am living in a council flat........I am on the first floor, so I have neighbours above and below. The soundproofing here is terrible..........if I sit here very quietly, I can tell what they are saying and even which TV channel they are watching! I can hear them walking about or if they knock something over. When I am lain in bed at night, I can hear the guy downstairs switch his bathroom light on and have a ****! You can imagine what it is like, then, if anybody has a few mates round for a beer and to play music........arggghhh!!!! I am not exaggerating!

Anyway, there's a chance I may be offered a Northern Counties flat on Hyde Park. I know they were done up for the World Student Games and are quite nice. I believe the security is very good indeed. What I need to know, however, is how thin are the walls? Also, is there any difference in standards between the Northern Counties block (red) and the council block (green)?

I'd appreciate anybody's first hand experience.

Regards,

Spacehopper.

My friends lived on the red block. They never had any problems with noise.

The flats are very nice indeed. Security is absolutly brilliant! If only we could have security like that on our flats. I would definalty go for it, they really do have everything you could want.

I lived on Hyde Park flats for a year around 1995/6. I never remember hearing normal day-to-day sounds such as talking or lightswitches from other flats. People playing music is another matter.

It's the luck of the draw. I had a guy below me who played music quite loud but not often enough or late enough to warrant a complaint. A friend of mine had neighbors who liked to play loud music day and night.

I have a friend who lives on Hyde Park at the moment and he says that it's quiet on his floor. He likes living there.
