Me and my bloke are both 21 and last year went to Laganas On Zante [Zakynthos].
It was brilliant with loads of bars, clubs, restaurants and a great beach.

We want to go on a similar holiday this year but somewhere else in Greece. Can anybody recommend a nice lively place for us coz the descriptions in holiday brochures are crap and dont tell u much! :P

Kos aint bad for the younger element. I go to Porus or Satorini, but they are more sedate.

Personally I love Rhodes and have been three times now. It's a bit bigger than the other islands so has more to offer.

Rhodes town is all ancient with narrow streets, shops and little tavernas, Ixia is nightclubs and beaches with large modern hotels and you're never far from anything (ie, airport).

It's also incredibly hot. I've done Corfu, Zakynthos and Athens (the latter on a cruise) but Rhodes takes the biscuit for me.

Any spare room in yer luggage?

We went to corfu, a couple of years ago, and we finished up in Kavos. This is a very lively resort. Every night the partying goes on 'till 4am at least. But at the edges and further away from the centre you can find tranquil greek tradition. Kavos is big enough that there is plenty to do and look at for a week, but if you were older aged or objected to noise you would hate it.
If you are 21 you would probably find it fantastic. Take earplugs though as you might need them for a good nights sleep. We arrived up at 1am in the morning and it was like 10pm on a saturday night outside the busiest pub in town.

The main beach is very long and well furnished with bars and clubs, the main town of kavos has hundreds of bars and tavernas, and there are loads of clubs and bars where you can watch movies if you want to get out of the sun and they bring you more drink like a waiter service. They have things like bungee jumping, cataputs and go karts. There is also a lovely quiet secluded beach 15 mins walk away which is large and often deserted.

The best time we had was renting a small motorbike and exploring the whole south part of the Corfu island. The reps try to tell you not to do this because of the amount of accidents that occur. But I am an experienced and qualified motorcyclist and insisted that we wore helmets and I always rode safely and we never saw any danger. The excursions to paxos and antpaxos are also great days out, as was one to corfu town itself.

Try Malia.. Otherwise push the boat a bit further out and try Ayia Napa in Cyprus :D

I'm going there for a fortnight in roughly 85,496 minutes. Not that I'm counting :D

What about Crete? Anybody been there?

we did a self made tour of the islands last summer. we got an easy jet flight to athens and then headed straight for the ferry. leaving the port at 6am just as the sun was coming up over athens set us both up for a fantastic time. it took us 1 month and we took in 8 islands and we were never tied to a package we just did as we pleased, it was so easy to hop. we ended up back in athens for a weekend and then flew home. it wasn't cheap as it was high season (and the olympics were on too) but was the best holiday/travelling for me so far. in total it cost us about £1,500 each but we kept to a strict budget to acheive this bargain figure! the ferries cost us the most. we did give the party islands a wide berth tho so i guess this reply is pretty irrelevant! greece has so much more to offer than the drunk english person abroad scene.

Corfu is the one for me - I have done most of the islands and it is the one I always recommend.

It has something for everyone, and all ages it just depends where you go.

As Muddycoffee says Kavos is lively and wild and great for 21's. There are a few accidents on the scooters - but this is usually the drunk young lads who go mad.

We went last year and hired a car - went all round the island and found secluded beaches with great restaurants and drunk and spent loads in Corfu town!

Did you take in Symi? I spent 2 months there about ** years ago! It was really beautiful - if you did, has it changed much?

Sorry to change the course of the thread! It really isn't the place for Sam1984, but I am interested if you got there!

nope didn't get down to the dodecanese really, closest we got was nisyros (the volcano one). can't wait to go back to the islands but even so it's difficult because i'm torn between that and venturing out to somewhere totally different. wouldn't it be great if everyone had 3 months paid holiday per year... i only have 4 weeks holiday for the whole year this year and even that can't be taken as one big chunk. i hate having to prioritise locations. i wish i could go everywhere!
