View Full Version : 6 goals against for the sheffield teams
bladebloke 25-09-2008, 19:24 no excuses this week for united. i was there and saw it myself. totally outplayed by a very good young side. no players out injured excuses, no extra loan players, no flooded pitch, no heavy traffic. nothing at all in my defence apart from the 2nd and 3rd goals looked offside but even still a well 2nd best.
got me thinking tho to the last time we had 6 put past us. so done a bit of research and gone back over the last 20 years. here are my findings.
1999/2000 man city away lost 0-6

OK, lets break down this post.
did we win a cup - the only cup the owls ever won, was a cup of coffee.
we got into Europe - and got spanked in the process.

yes sorry mate yer right. even better then. only lost by 4 once liverpool away.
MICK-SWFC 26-09-2008, 21:10 Why not search how many times both teams have won by 6 or more in the last 20 years.
Off the top of my head can remember 8-1 against spora luxembourg 7-1 leicester and 6-2 against leeds
marcgoddard 26-09-2008, 22:20 this thread is like havin a conversation with my brother lol, im wednesday, hes united (i blame the parents)

what year did we beat qpr 7-1?
Yup, bit tedious really. Both sides have had embarrassing scorelines and dodgy events in the last few years. United's debateable relegation blamed on Tevez and West Ham. :suspect: Wednesday's ongoing embarrassing takeover shambles led by the increasingly dodgy-looking Mr Sheard :loopy: and there's loads more if you dig deep enough for both clubs.
Nobody will ever win the argument so instead of bickering between ourselves why not team up and rip the pee out of Leeds. We'd all love a bit o' that. :D

leeds thrive on being hated. there used to it. from their cheating 70's squad to their scum fans pelting the disabled enclosure at barnsley. best way to upset them is to ignore them.
lets stick to hating each other

i'll look it up later. off the top of my head. paul gasgoines spurs 6-0, westbrom 6-0, luton away 6-3.
did'nt you put 7 past burnley a couple of year back ?
does any one know the last time united had 6 put past us at home
lets stick to hating each other
You're just nasty!
CorkerSWFC 27-09-2008, 08:33 We have got to have got 1 of the best top flight results ever, a 9-1 win against Birmingham, Whats your biggest ever home crowd?
Ours is 72,841 Some crowd that man.
Robbie Loving 27-09-2008, 08:37 , Whats your biggest ever home crowd?
Ours is 72,841 Some crowd that man.
We managed 63k+ against leeds many years since.
bladebloke 27-09-2008, 08:46 we once played in front of 110,820 fans against spurs at crystal palace in the fa cup final. but this was even before wendys last derby double.
bladebloke 27-09-2008, 09:04 Wednesday have three home games in that lot aswell .
just been trying to find out when we last had at least 6 put past us at home.
and found this.
sat 15th dec 1956 home to rotherham lost 2-7. think that might be it. so not in my life time.
Michael_W 27-09-2008, 18:00 Just my observation, but Wednesday have generally played with a more cavalier style, typically when things go wrong they get the occasional trouncing. Maybe the Blades should have been a bit more positive in their approach play while in the Premiership instead of boring the pants off everyone and getting relegated ! Just a thought !

surely over 30,000 every home game would'nt turn up if it was boring.
just a thought.

Surely they did !
Remember top flight football is a novelty at t'lane !
