My consultant at the hospital was supposed to be referring me for physio but I've not heard a thing. Unfortunately we're a bit strapped at the moment so I don't think I can go private really...

Does anyone know, can my GP refer straight to a physio or do I have to go through my consultant at the hospital (he's a pain in the butt). I'm going to try calling the docs tomorrow anyway to find out.

Also - if anyone knows of a reasonably priced physio in Sheffield that I don't need a referral for, could they let me know please?

Thanks!

i was referred to physio for an injury, very dissapointed as I was given thre 15 min sessions then sent to another therapy which I have been to every few weeks for about a year- which has made things worse-I have only found that out now I have gone private. I cannot reccommend the practice enough-Lesley Dike at Stillpoint-I was more mobile after 1 session-around £35/40 a session, worth it in the long run rather than an injury poss turn into a longet term problem!

Most GP surgeries have physio time booked so you can see someone through them, but they have quite a long waiting list most of the time I'm afraid.

Ooh sorry I didn't get back to you.

I went to the GP and she seemed very concerned that my consultant had just shrugged off a very real possibility of vascular involvement (I have a vascular malformation FGS).

So she has written a prioity referral to the Clinical Assessment Team, that way I won't be sent straight to physio which could make it worse if it is vascular involvement, they'll do more thorough tests for the cause of the problem before allowing me to go to physio.

I should hear from them next week *fingers crossed*

Thanks all.

Not sure if your sorted yet and hope all tests were ok but have you tried an osteopath?? similar to physio but at the same time quite different. Hands on treatment with exercises if necessary. Im an osteopath working at bannerdale osteopaths, your more than welcome to give us a call to discuss your injury and if your not suitable for treatment we can try recommend an alternative. 01142556255.
