View Full Version : Are you coming to the meet at CRB on 6th Nov?
Classic Rock 23-10-2003, 16:15 Just checking numbers so Sass knows how many chicken legs to cook.
For those of you who are wondering what this is all about.....
Would you like to meet the people that you converse with on this site? If so, meet them at the good old Classic Rock Bar, Ecclesall Rd (near Safeway) from 6pm on Thurs 6th Nov.
Free buffet, cheap drinks, real ale, quiet room (I'll make sure room 2 is available for you all again) and a guaranteed good night!
Vote accordingly so we are ready for you!
NB - I won't be there (off on holiday) but Sass will (and he always appreciates a pint - especially if you enjoy the food - hint, hint).
*Twinkle* 23-10-2003, 16:20 Grrrrrrrr!!!!!
I swear you pick the dates I'm busy on purpose!!!!
I'm collecting my GCSE certificates that night so I'm sorry, I won't be coming! (For the THIRD time!!!)
Agent Dan 23-10-2003, 16:30 Do you want us to fake your kidnapping?!! We could all come down on wires from the ceiling and steal you from the ceremony!!!
Or you could just turn up afterwards...

Hehe probabaly a bad idea then!! We'll have to take photos and post them on the site here so you don't feel left out!! Maybe we could have a daytime/weekend meet for those who can't make thursdays... 8)
*Twinkle* 24-10-2003, 08:11 I'm at 6th form Tue-Fri!! And I work Sat and Sun!!! Monday mornings or afternoons are the only suitable time
Agent Dan 24-10-2003, 08:37 Do you work nights then? Maybe we could all just meet for a coffee somewhere... I was talking about that to New Age (cos she can't make the meets either) - and coffee's almost as good as beer!!!
Nutronic 24-10-2003, 09:22 Count me in, i'll be there with my g/f, if thats alright???

Agent Orange 24-10-2003, 11:02 Damn, and yet I miss another one!! I won't be attending as I will be laying on a beach far far away!! I will think you guys in the cold. Seriously, I hope you all have fun.
I could come for half an hour at six, but that is all.
And it is probably not worth it because there is usually only me and Classic Rock (and the nice old lady that drinks Guiness) around that early, and I already know she is on hols this time.
So I am afraid that although last month on the first Thursday in the month I gave up my regular commitment in favour of the Forum, this month I darent do it again.
Am planning on organising some lunch dates in the city centre over the next few weeks for those I am already friendly with. We could consider expanding those in due course.
Have a great time y'all - and make sure someone takes photos again so I can see who I am missing
- and will be sending a big hug to Funke88 even if I have to co-opt someone else to deliver it for me.
alchresearch 24-10-2003, 11:48 I'm in Sheffield on Wednesday for a bonfire night do and again on Saturday so I don't think I'll be making a third trip as much as I'd like to go.
WHT ABOUT U18???????????
we are on this site you know!!!!!
Sheffield forumers are not all oldies!!
Moon Maiden 24-10-2003, 18:46 You don't specify your age but I wouldn't be very happy about my kids wandering off anywhere to meet with folk off the internet - so sit tight!
I don't think I can come, gonna be real busy for a while now I would like a rest I think after Halloween methinks.
Moon Maiden
It is ok moon, I'm afraid to admit it but Fletch does belong to me so would not be going alone. I know he puts up some strange posts, but he is ok ususally.
Yep me and nomme will most probably be there, i believe.
Mongoose 25-10-2003, 01:37 I used to go in loads of pubs with my mum (shes into folk music :E ) when I was under 18; you dont have to drink you know :)
Carlwarker 25-10-2003, 12:04 Thanks for the poll Classic.:) it will be interesting to meet Funke, and other members.
I'll be there again. Looking forward to it, sorry to miss some people. Perhaps a different time and/or day next time?
Classic Rock 27-10-2003, 08:42 No problem to bring kids along. Room 2 will be a 'private function room' for the evening, so it's fine for kids to be in there.....I'd recommend for everyone's sanity though that the very young ones don't stay for the whole evening.
I'll try to come down again. Although I won't be able to get down there as early as 6pm, so hopefully I'll see those of you who are there a little later on.
Will do my best as I haven't missed one yet!
hiyabeing 27-10-2003, 13:38 Yeah me too foxxx and Lou et al.....
HAven't quite got my head round who's said yes n who's said no.
Some new people too I hope????
Has Funke88 seen this thread??! If you're over here from the 4th to the 12th then can you make this meet up?
Yes - I just need to scour through all the other postings to find where it is:)
Yes, I've seen it. I just have to persuade my husband to go.

Safeway end of Ecclesall Road, you can't miss it.
I doubt very much that I'll be there, but if someone wanders in dressed in a long coat, a hat and dark glasses, that'll be me ;)
Do we have a mod representative going?

I went last time. Probably go again this time.

Classic Rock 28-10-2003, 14:26 Which moderator stuck a 'no' on the poll?
I'm not interested in who isn't coming, only the ones that are....for catering reasons. 'No' doesn't mean much to anyone for this poll.

Sorry, it was me.
Thought we may as well give everyone a vote.
Agent Dan 30-10-2003, 08:24 I've already voted but would like to add two guests (non-forum) to the numbers for catering please!! They're new to sheffield and haven't met many people yet... plus they live just round the corner from classic rock bar!!!

I've taken 1 off the yes vote and added 1 to the yes + 2 vote. OK?

Agreed... with a NO vote, I could vote then just see results.
Now I have to keep pressing the button to see current votes... how annoying... get the NO vote back! PWEEEZ :D

I agree Dab but it's CR's poll and what she says goes.
Classic Rock 30-10-2003, 09:07 Why not just click on 'View Results'?
Simple! It's one of the first links you come to when you open up this thread.....or am I missing something crucial here?

It's just of ther was a NO vote option, there would be no need to click the view results link.
Youdon't need to look at the NO vote, but it helps us that don't have the option to vote.
But...s'up to you!
Agent Dan 30-10-2003, 10:14 Thanks Max! :D
Classic Rock 31-10-2003, 15:20 Right, I'm off on my hols now. I'll tell Sass there'll be round about 20 of us there. Sorry I can't join you this time, but I'm sure you'll have a really good time.
If loads of people start voting that they're coming along and the numbers reach above 50, can someone call the pub and warn them! Otherwise....enjoy!
Well you guys, I'm flying to England this weekend. We'll be in Sheffield next week from Tuesday onwards. So I won't be logging on for a while. Anyway, my husband and I will be coming to the meet, plus by brother cos he's the driver. I talked hubby into it, phew! He loves English rock music. Didn't think he'd want to meet a bunch of internet geeks!?!
See y'all next week.
tinajones 04-11-2003, 18:57 this thread is slipping down t'bottom. bumpage.
so whos going? (haven't had time to read the whole thread)
@ agent dan do you still want to to go through with the dodgy deal?

Well, we're here in sunny Sheffield and having such a great time. We will make it tonight. Not sure what time cos mum is cooking the works: roast beef, yorkshire puds etc. We will roll in at some time around 7ish
Hubby likes classic rock like Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones.
Me, I like all sorts.
See you all later.
Hey, I brought good weather for all of you. Like it??
Have a good night I am not going to be there, really busy at work at moment and over in Stoke on Trent, will not get back until late.
Funke88 Hope you enjoy, and welcome home.
Post all the gossip on Friday and more piccys.
mikey
I'll try and make an appearance tonight. Was going to pop in on way home from work about 6ish, but it sounds like noone will be there that early, so will go home and come back out again, get there about 8.15!
Save some Ale and chicken for me!
Good to see everyone again - and to put some more faces to those names!
Looking forward to the next meet

Just seen in last night's Star that Eva Davis - the nice old lady described above - has died and the Classic Rock Bar played their part at the funeral.
I sat and talked to her twice and she was lovely. I feel very sad now, it is perhaps a good job I didnt go to the do last night and ask after her when she wasnt there when I arrived. I would have been gutted.
Eva, you were great

Who the f*** mentioned it was in Ecclesall? There you go again starting trouble. Classicrock THE USER was in Venice, so I stated he should change his location info.
You must be the fittest person on here T020, what with all the jumping (to conclusions) you do and running everyone else down.
Alchresearch - ClassicRock the user is female

alchresearch 07-11-2003, 19:28 My mistake! Was busy ranting off at t020.
