View Full Version : Mobility pass-help please.
I applied for a mobility pass about 3 weeks ago now, and I still havent received a reply.
How long do they actually take, and will I receive a normal mobility pass, or automatically get one of the new ones that you can travel country wide with?
Any advice welcomed, thanks.
marie riley 24-09-2008, 07:17 hi i have a mobility pass it should be one of those that you can travel anywhere on buses and trams but only so far on trains
when they changed them from card to plastic it took some people about 4-5 weeks and others got them straight away depends on the bus company on how quick they sort them out i think
Plain Talker 24-09-2008, 09:34 The PTE issues the passes, not the bus companies.
Theoretically you should have been issued with a temporary pass to tide you over, till the permanent pass has been issued. (It's a company near Hull that has the contract to manufacture the passes)
When you finally receive your pass, do check that it's the right one (ie, not a pensioner pass, or if you are entitled to a "with carer" pass, that you get the pass with the insignia on it that gives you the "carer" privilege)
foxydebs 25-09-2008, 21:19 Also be aware that the old style passes are no longer valid after the 30th September and if you have not got the new style pass you will be required to pay full fare on buses or teams. This helps to mobility and seniors passes.

Thanks for that. Ive just got the letter through to say Im eligible for a pass, so hopefully it will be a new style pass.
Just an update-my pass has been ordered and will be here soon!
Just a heads up for anyone who is applying for a bus pass in the future. They actually take your photograph by computer now, so dont pay out for passport photos as you dont need them (unless asked of course)
When I ordered my pass, the lady said it would be here by the end of the week, no sign yet :(
Got my pass through!:)
Does anyone know if you have to use it after 9:30am please, thanks

which is it?
if it's a "pensioner pass" it's valid after 0900, as it would say in the leaflet they should have sent with the pass.
if it's a mobility pass, then it's valid in Sheffield and South Yorkshire from start of service (IE before 0900) again, it will say this in the information leaflet sent with the pass.
Outside the Sheffield and South Yorkshire boundary, local regulations apply.
Some places will allow the passes to be used before 0930, other areas, like Derbyshire, where my sister lives, stick rigidly to the "not to be used until after 0930" rule.
You need to check what local regulations apply, if you plan to use your pass outside South Yorkshire.
Its a mobility pass PT, cany I use it before 9am then? I cant seem to find the leaflet :(
Plain Talker 15-10-2008, 22:51 a "ninterweb" version of the information for you, in case you weren't sent the leaflet...
