Well today I have received my first statement from NATWEST and there is a £10 charge on there, I have 2 years free banking

Anyone know why???

Thanks

Ask Nat West - could you have been overdrawn for a time? It doesn't always show on your statement if it happens because payments have been credited but not cleared - my cleared balance is often much less than my statement balance.

Or it could be a mistake.

Only Nat West can tell you.

EDIT - just to say I don't bank with Nat West.

Thanks little buzz, was surprised as the account has only been open 3 weeks and the statement date is 27-29 Aug. I will ring my branch and see if they can spread some light on the situation

If it's not too confidential is there any chance you could let us know whether it was a warrented charge or not. There is a link on here somewhere about how rubbish Natwest are and this may be worth linking to it

There have been times when bank charges have been put on accounts when you have free banking.

Most of the time the answer is they didn't tick the box on their computer which gives free banking.

But as others have said the charge may be for a service that isn't covered by the free banking deal.

£10 could be a charge for a certain type of Internet banking, or a charge if you accept credit cards.

Or do you have a business credit card?

There is usually an annual fee for having a business credit card.

, or a charge if you accept credit cards.

In which case it's a very good deal!
