Did anyone see Time Team last Sunday? Superb program, showed excavation of Marshalls old works near Wards Brewery and Wisewood forge. Also showed how the old blister steel was produced and made into a knife. [Also showed how big guys wearing funny hats can get dragged through a rolling mill if they are not carefull] That incident was very dangerous indeed. Good to see Ken Hawley get a bit of recognition, that guy knows more about Sheffield Industrial history than anyone else. I would like to see this program repeated so I can record it.
I saw it and thought it was an excellent programme. I'm moving to Sheffield in September and it was great to learn a bit of the history of the place - more than I found out walking round the Millennium Gardens etc.

As a former post said, this was a repeat already, but as a matter of interest, Discovery Channel have 2 different 'episodes of Time Team every weekday, at 2 pm and 7 pm....Bound to show it eventually....
If you check the Channel 4 Time Team site, or the Discovery channel version, you'll see various DVD's etc for sale....
As silverknight says it was a repeat, i saw it the last time it was on and brought back some bad memories, i used to work at sheff rolling mills, millsands, next to whitbread ladys bridge,i was just a lad of about 16, so my job was "running out" i would catch the bars at the end that were about an inch thick and about 10-15 yard long, i have witnessed a few helicoils but what i did witness was someone lose an hand and that happened just like what happened on time team, not a nice experience i can tell you

A few weeks ago, a guy with a theodolite, in Blonk St Car Park, told me that Timeteam are going in there next, before the new "Town Centre Appartments" building goes up.....
Could be very interesting
