And if so how and where???

U know what I'm talking about - that old chestnut of finding somone who sweeps you of your feet, wines and dines you, puts up with and loves your indiscretions and doesn't mind your family!!

I'm not that scary!

Just looking for some honest romance, but it doesn't seem to exist anymore.

Afraid not.. I put a post up about how much damage the Bridget Jones type of films does to the female mind.. Makes women get their hopes up and set their standard for something similiar, when it's all just bull!

Sorry, but it's true.

I like how they refer to her "personal manager" and "legal advisor".

I'm sorry, but this guy was an idiot if he thought he could pick up a hooker off the street and have her turn into Julia Roberts.

It's too bad he got hurt.

If it happened like it did in the films I'd be flippin' disturbed.

Imagine a world where you can battle against all odds, struggle against every twist of cruel fate and still end up with the girl and the loot EVERY time. That's the lie regularly being pushed on people who end up expecting to be a winner no matter how much life threw at them by just sitting on their ass expecting it to turn out right in the end.

People have unreallistic expectations as to what their life should be like ....... Generally, people's lives will suck on the whole with the brief interuptions of happiness and they'll be dicked over by others more times than they think.

I know people need hope but they also need perspective.

Oh I have perspective, I was just wondering whether there are many people out there who still like to woo and be wooed in the old fashioned way thats all.

In which case yes - It's good to woo someone special, makes them and you feel good. I've never been wooed though ...... apart from once on a ghost train.

So true Hels! Yes it does happen 'like it does in the movies'.. getting dumped, cheated on, misunderstood, etc etc but just without the big happy ending scene at the end!!

BruciesBabe, perhaps you should listen to the Dr Hook song, 'More Like The Movies' The voice of Ray Sawyer explaining that he wished it could be more like the movies for his partner. It brings stuff into perspective.

Now thats what I call romance..x

I have just found that there is a major lack of romance in the old boy meets girl stakes at the mo. Seems to be that its more about getting someone into bed and having 'uncomplicated fun' then having a heartfelt relationships.

As for having perspective - Oh I have that, just hoped things could be different!

Sorry if I have misled you BruciesBabe, I meant we could listen to the track, then you could walk the dog over The Bolehills while I went down 'The Closed Shop'..........guess I've blown it eh?

Oh dear! That will teach me to look closer. I still like how they referred to her personal manager and legal advisor.

I guess where I am, the line between real life and movies is somewhat blurred. There are companies in California that reenact people's favorite movie scenes for special occasions.

British humor is very different from American humor. Much more subtle.
