Hi,

I've set this website up and thinking of aiming it mainly at the south yorkshire market. I would be grateful if anyone (jobseeker or employer) could register and make use of the site. If you are an employer post as many jobs as you like, its completely free. If a jobseeker, register and post your CV.

You never know, you may find a great job or a great employee.

The web address is

http://www.jobs-quest.com

To admin:
Sorry i know i've posted this in 2 forums now, the other posting was in the wrong one!

If anyone has any feedback, suggestions or complaints about the site please reply to this thread and i'll see what I can do.

Cheers

Hi,

I know that people on here generally have an encyclopedic knowledge of sheffield.... Can someone tell me the website names for recruitment agencies that are actually based in Sheffield? Most agencies seem to have their Head Office in London and, as you would expect from there are generally snotty! (No offence to any Londoners on here....)

I would be very grateful for any useful links that I could offer free advertising too. Or even local businesses that often recruit that I could target.

Cheers,

I think we'd believe you if you were a regular of the forum.
Making your first post in relation to this new site seems a bit put on to me.

Sorry!

Why do people ALWAYS have to be so negative..

I'm glad that some people are having success with the site! Just to let people know that there are now 67 jobs online based in Sheffield. These range from sales, IT & management jobs.

More are added everyday and we are on the verge of signing up a large recruitment agency which should deliver alot more.

If you sign up please make a point of filling out your experience and qualifications. If you dont then you cannot apply for jobs and our current clients will not be able to look at your CV when considering you for the position.

Thanks!

well im gonna sound negative now, but ive been on the site and being familiar with websites and well experienced in recruitment i found this site to look like a kind of franchise-type; its UK wide and appears to be full of student grads etc., i put a search range in and it throws up all the same jobs as when you dont do a search at all. any ideas??

Hi Natane,

The search limitation is because there is only 104 jobs on the site. 67 are currently based in Sheffield.

We originally went for nation wide, then decided there are too many of them. Also when I was looking for jobs there was nothing worse than seeing thousands of jobs in London and nothing in my local area. This is the reason there are jobs in other parts.

If you go to the search page and enter "Sheffield" in the keywords it will return 67 results.

I cannot explain why only young people have signed up. We are not specifically targeting this age group. We have an Adwords campaign which explicitily states "South Yorkshire Based" so it beats me why students from Motherwell are signing up!

Make no mistake this is not a franchise. It is a joint venture between 2 local Sheffield people. At the moment all job posting is free in an attempt to get as many Sheffield employers signed up as possible.

Please keep calling back, we have already had 2 people successfully given interviews from applying from our site.

Did you not get this site tested before launch?

Paul2412

when you have a site tested pre the launch you check evrything single thing works, not just a sample. If I were you I would get the site fully checked over again.

You don't want your potential customers to think you are amateurish and unprofessional. This might be why your site isn't growing, amongst other things.

A few things I have uncovered today after I registered as a jobseeker yesterday:

I can't find anywhere to log in on the site menu's. The only time I can find a log in page is when you click on a sub menu when you want to post a cv, etc. If i don't want to do any of those things but just do a search then it's not until you click on a vacancy that it asks you to log in. This is not ideal. You need a log in and log out available either on each page as people should be encouraged to log out rather than just close the window.

What is a 'free trail' ?? It's mentioned twice (I also registered as an employer as I own a ltd co) nothing works at all when I click on anything.

When i click on 'free trail' it says my time is up and it's time to pay!

it also says 8000 jobs posted and 8000 resumes posted....what's that all about?

This site has definately got problems. I know people put out products and services that are often new and wait for the public to correct the faults en mass, but this is surely not what you are doing???? If so it is embarrassing for you and you should correct those faults for your current and especially paying (if you have any) customers right away as surely you must have some guarantees on your website with some professional terms and conditions for users, especially paying ones??

If you need help, PM me.

Hi, not sure where you have decided that the site is'nt growing from. 158 job and 60 jobseekers in just under 3 weeks is'nt bad, especially when we both work full time!

The logon function is the way it was supposed to work. You may search for a job and see that a job is matching your criteria. But to view the job details you must register, to apply for a job you must fill out a CV. This maintains the integrity of our database.

The "free trial" is there for the first 3 months of trade only. It is explained to recruitment agencies or employers in an email. This is a limitation of PayPal whereby it will try to process £0 which then errors. Where else would you find active job seekers, all based in Sheffield, all registered in the past 3 weeks and be able to advertise for free?

The 8000 jobs posted is the free trial plan, also explained in the introductory email.

People generally have given good feedback to the site (both jobseekers and employers) so I see no reason to change.

Thanks for your advice however.

Hi well you haven't actually answered all of my queries but never mind. The free trail your site refers to should, i expect, read free TRIAL???

I'm only trying to point out some facts as a user and as a person knowledgeable in what I am talking about. I want you to succeed of course but you can't make constructive comments in a nice flowery way or you won't pick up on it and make the necessary changes.

I have helped set up lots of websites and only tring to help you.....for free. If everything is free will you take up the offer?

You expect your potential customers to do just that so why not yourself?

If your growth figures are in line with your projected business plan figures then fine, although I would expect you to be targeting to have higher figures than those you currently have,
or are you playing it 'by ear' so to speak?

I have had several people asking if I need assistance and they either end up wanting a kings ransom or they abuse the rights I give them (1 guy decided to take the site down, lucky for backups) so that is why I am a little suspicious.

However if you would like to help then that would be much appreciated. Rather than discussing on a public board can you email me using the "contact us" form on the site? cheers

We now have over 200 jobs listed on our site and the numbers are growing. Over 110 people have signed up to search for jobs.
