Does anyone know what is happening with the land on Staniforth Road opposite Balfour Carpets. Apparently, there is a large Strawsons property sign displayed and major construction work is going on?

Lickszz 10-05-2005, 20:10 Where abouts on Staniforth road is it? melthebell 10-05-2005, 20:30 OPPOSITE BALFOUR CARPETS lol (that sort of castle looking thingy) i used to hang around there in the late 80s :P Lickszz 10-05-2005, 20:37 I'm afraid I'm still non the wiser. Is it Attercliffe Road or Darnall Terminus end? Or in the middle? melthebell 10-05-2005, 21:10 errrrrrrrrrrrrrm the middle?????????ish i think :P Abdul 11-05-2005, 07:07 Originally posted by Lickszz Is it Attercliffe Road or Darnall Terminus end? Or in the middle? Yes, it's in the middle, but towards the end furthest away from Attercliffe Road. If you drive down Staniforth Road from Attercliffe Road, the carpet shop (a great looking building, I might add) is about 2/3 of the way down, on the left hand side. I would guess that apartments are to be built there... Attercliffe and Darnall have been trying to lift their reputation lately, after being tainted with the high number of adult shops up there. gremlin_mick 11-05-2005, 08:01 Theres going to be LOADS of houses on there, as the site is huge. Hopefully we'll get a proper supermarket back in Darnall when the development is finished. I know Darnall has a bit of a scabby rep, but I cant recall many "mucky book" shops in Darnall. The other end of Staniforth road, however, is trying to emulate Amsterdam or the Reeperbaun(sp?) :) On a side note, Goodfellas, the "gentlemens club" seems to have closed down. It seems to have a for sale sign on it already. Mickyboy 11-05-2005, 08:10 I think what Alisha is referring to is the old Cravens site . good riddance to it too. It's been an eyesore for over thirty years. Its quite a large plot amd whatever they do will be a vast improvement melthebell 11-05-2005, 17:56 Originally posted by gremlin_mick On a side note, Goodfellas, the "gentlemens club" seems to have closed down. I heard there is planning permission for housing, but I don't know what kind of housing they are thinking of. I know that the local schools have not been informed of any influx of pupils to the area though. tourist 20-05-2005, 18:41 Re: dirty book shops in Darnall. Don't know about book shops but there was some kind of brothel at work about a year ago (or maybe longer). The front of the shop on Staniforth Road was a type of ex-catalogue shop, but out at the back it was a different story. There was a bit police raid as I heard it. |
