There are many threads here about kids with Aspergers or Autism, but reading this post (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showpost.php?p=4081932&postcount=10) has provoked me to start this thread

How do you deal with a bloke nearing his sixties who exhibits constant rage, self centredness to the point of obsession (if a topic discussed doesn't include him he's genuinely confounded), and seems to enjoy hurting other people (constantly i.e. several times a day)?

Does anybody else live with this?

I'm assuming it's a problem from the autistic spectrum as I had the sleep issues and obsessive behaviours usually associated with autism, one of my brothers was diagnosed as 'gifted' and the other is a mathematical genius

Any other suggestions as to what my father's problem is are welcome too, for instance it could be early onset alzeimers, but we're not sure

Oh, and don't anybody suggest he see a doctor, as he doesn't trust them, and we'd be accused of some sort of conspiracy if we suggested any such thing

With all due respect Strix, even if the old coot is on the autistic spectrum, at 60 odd he's probably too old to get a diagnosis, and it's too late to get him any help if he was diagnosed.

I had an Uncle in his 80s up to last November, he showed all the signs as well, had no social skills, couldn't do anything for himself, and hated the world and everyone in it.
